Kubota tractor buckets are NOT interchangeable with a Kubota skid loader! You can attach them but the side bar is 2” thicker on the side of the quick attach bucket on a tractor then a skid loader bucket! So when you attach the bucket to a skid loader and curl the bucket (empty or full) the edge rolls back onto the lift arms and forces the bottom of the bucket to split the slots out! You can go from skid loader to tractor with a bucket but you can not go from a tractor bucket to a skid loader. I got this from the dealer who said he split two out before they knew. On the attached pictures you can seen the vertical bar that is scratched from rubbing on the skid steer loader arms and forcing the bucket to split out!

Honestly, I have no idea why someone would try using a light material bucket built for a tractor on a skid steer. They are two entirely different animals.

Sure, it would work in the other direction (skid steer bucket on a tractor) but you'd be giving up lots of capacity.

Anyway, I'm sure your bucket can be fixed.

When the tractor and skid loader lifting capacity is almost identical it should not matter what you put a quick attach bucket on , it should work! The problem is Kubota wants you to buy one for each, and if you look the tractor bucket was reinforced more then a skid loader bucket so don’t get hung up on a light duty sticker. We are not trying to put b size buckets on skid loaders.

My takeaway from this and the OP’s first thread is mostly a cautionary tale. I can understand having both a Kubota skid steer and compact tractor.

It is very conceivable that one would be tempted to hook up a tractor bucket to a skid steer to move the bucket for storage etc and the mere mistake of curling an empty bucket to full back damages it.

I appreciate this thread and adds to the knowledge base !

We have farmers using them to clean chicken pens and I am going to use my to load mulch as a backup after I modify it

Hmm, I recently bought a Tomahawk SS bucket to use on my L35. I'll have to double-check that it clears.

Some will appreciate the information. Kuddo's to the OP on that. To most, it's obvious But, saying it's a "Dirty little secret"... that's a bit harsh.

With that mentality... Here's some more dirty little secrets:

Don't wear tennis shoes to a worksite when you need steel toed boots. "But it fits"
Don't wear a baseball cap when a hardhat is needed. "But it fits"
Don't put ATV tires on your daily driver. "But it fits"
Don't wear panties when you have to change clothes in a men's locker room. Unless you're into that sort of thing. "But it fits"
Don't put a 3,000 lb axle on a trailer that needs 7,000 lb axles. "But it fits"

Don't spit or pee into the wind.
Don't tell your wife she's gaining weight.

Don't put any hobby - grade tractor's ground-engagement implements on ANY Commercially rated machine. Of any make or manufacture. Of ANY make or manufacture. But it fits, is not the issue.

While good information this is bordering troll status. OP just signed up and first post was "my bucket broke because I used it incorrectly" followed by "Kubota has dirty secrets"   God bless the internet :LOL::LOL:

I feel like this is a bit harsh. How many people have discovered interference issues rhe hard way? Nearly anyone thats done anything! The rest of it is just commentary on ‘style’ of posting. I for one agree that its a useful contribution becsuse it MIGHT save someone some damage some day. Heck, if all someone did was find all the equipment fitment issues the hard way and post up about them ‘the wrong way’, theyd end up being one of the more useful posters on the forum!

So i thank for the contribution to the knowledge base, deduct NO points for style because i dont care that much.. and on to the next thread. My .02

You're right it is harsh, but the truth isn't kind. All about delivery. Good information, poorly executed is all. And yes onto the next thread.

I am happy they posted results. Biggest pet peeve of mine on this forum or any forum especially when I'm being an internet mechanic is running onto an issue, searching online, going to a forum, finding the same issue, 10 posts of suggestions, and the OP never responds with the solution........ I'm still waiting on the results on here of a guy wanting to us his bx to tow a tandem trailer full of kids for trick or treating.........hat's off to this person for showing us what not to do even though most of us probably would have tried that but we don't know everything and all have something to offer........a fish will look stupid trying to climb a tree.

I think the title was probably from frustration after having damaged equipment.

My understanding is that the SSQA "standard" was developed by one manufacturer (Bobcat?) and then copied by others. There now seems have been standardized as SAE J2513 but from the 2 page PDF I found it only covers the actual attachment plate. Even the latching mechanism is left up the the manufacturer.

The standard does not define anything outside the attachment plate. So the user needs to aware of what they are doing. The first time they mate a new piece of equipment, they should do a range of motion/interference check.

I learned something from this. I just hope I remember it if the situation presents itself to me. ;)
