Kubota 2501 owners - tractor idle question

I had my new L2501 tractor delivered this week. This is my 3rd Kubota in 30 years.

Here's my question. At initial startup, my experience is - at cold start the tractor will go to a fast idle (~ 1100 rpm) then once it warms up the idle will fall back to ~ 750 rpm. At fast idle it is quite throaty sounding and is set to a run level I would use to do work with the tractor. The hand throttle works as it should as does the floorboard throttle.

This new tractor does not drop back in idle speed once warmed up and stays ~1100 rpm. Is that normal for the 2501?

I called the dealer and talked to the salesman who started 3 other tractors on premises all with the same behavior, fast idle ~ 1100 rpm. He also asked the service folks who told him what I am seeing is normal.

Doesn't pass the sniff test in my opinion. What say you 2501 owners and technicians. Does your tractor fall back to a slower idle when warm?

I’m not a tractor expert but have an l3200 which would be the previous series to yours. Being the 2501 is a mechanical system I wouldn’t think it would have a high and low idle. Mine doesn’t do that. Idles the same rpm weather hot or cold, which is around 7-800. Plenty of 2501 owners here though and tractor wizards. To me it sounds like the linkage to the pump isn’t adjust right but others will know more.

L2501 idle speed is 1050 RPM give or take a couple. Hot or cold, does not matter. There is no adjustment. It is "high" because it has to be, to meet Tier 4 emissions.

Just FYI from Page 3 (Specifications) of the Operators Manual:

Rated revolution------------rps (rpm) 36.7 (2200)
Rated idling revolution-----rps (rpm) 17.5 to 19.2 (1050 to 1150)

There have only been a few Kubota engines that had the temperature differential throttle, and yes they would idle higher until warmed up then Idle down.
This was done via a temperature sensitive spring, and that setup was very problematic.

Newer and larger common rail systems can do this via the computer but your L2501 does not have that system.

It's a one idle system.

I've second guessed myself thinking I didn't turn it down all the way. I was thrown off when I heard one run for the first time too.

Thanks for all the good inputs. Now I know it is behaving properly.

Nice little rig. I only have 6 acres so this compact tractor is perfectly sized. I got the 525 bucket and also picked up a GS1560 Grader Scraper.

I brought with me to TX from NY a 3-point hitch Caddy (forks) that I modified with a drawbar. I used it to haul wood up from the forest to process into firewood. No forest here but it will still get used.

I also brought my log splitter that runs off the tractor hydraulics, no separate engine or fluid reservoir. Will likely sell it since there are no trees to process into firewood and I don't have a fireplace.
