The Meek shall inherit the earth, the Brave shall get the oceans.

Spoken like a true Sailor..
Maybe a needle nose pliers, or small forceps, maybe even a spot of super glue on the broken key,, that might bugger things up worse, or maybe a pick like for removing seals,, other than that I got nuttin,, You might have to replace the switch

A jewelers saw blade, with one end broken off, usually works first try. Just be sure you have the teeth facing out towards you when you stick it in the lock, on the cut side of the key. The teeth will grab the broken key & pull it right out.

You can also try a jigsaw blade. Sharper and thinner the better. Better yet, if you don't mind sacrificing one for the cause, trim it up with some metal scissors or more appropriate metal working tools if available.

I was out in the woods when the key broke on my 7100. It got a screw driver jammed in the switch and that was my key from that point on.

When everything fails, remove the lock and take to a locksmith.

It will only take them seconds with the right tool.

If I'm not mistaken, all Kubota keys are the same. I know all my M's start with the same key

Most of the same series of the same era start with the same keys, but (for instance)
your M key isn't even vaguely like the key for my 1979 B7100.
Oddly enough, I have a trunk key from a '63 Chevy sedan that will start my B7100.

Got it!!! First I gave it a squirt of Fluid Film (see pic), then a sharp hole punch. I lightly tapped the punch with a 6 oz hammer creating a small indent, then was able to work the piece out. Lucky or what!
Thanks for all the suggestions, now I have to find a new key. Fluidfilmcan.jpg

Most lock pick sets come with an extraction tool like this:

A little careful grinding on a broken hacksaw blade will yield the same thing.

The most likely scenario is that the key was worn, and that is why it broke. Removing the key as described, and getting a new key will rectify the problem with the least amount of expense. If he is to take the cylinder out, just taping the edge of the switch against a firm object such as the edge of a vise, the broken part will most likely just fall out. The cost of a locksmith will far exceed the cost of a new key, and/or the cost of a new switch.

Keys don't just get old and break. I've seen the teeth get worn to the point where they won't actuate the lock, but unless somebody is putting some strange sideways pressure on the key, there's no mechanical reason for it to break off in the lock. In normal operation, it's just not being stressed that way.

If the lock is buggered up so that you have to wrench on the key to turn it, yeah, it will eventually break off, but that means your problem is the lock, not the key.

Thanks for your reply, I would surely look for a new one but from dealerships not from a locksmith.

If all else fails, call a mobile locksmith.

Try searching on Youtube. I ran across a video that showed about a half dozen ways of doing it. Don't remember any of them.
