Just as it says in the subject, I am now the proud owner of a pinch under 500 hour L2501 with a FEL. It's got other features like a pin on bucket that has been booger welded with random 3/8 stock and a front grille that looks like it met Chuck Norris, purchased sight unseen at an auction.
I'm a regular buyer of used motor equipment so the used part doesn't bother me, but I do need some input as to initial repairs. Here's what's planned.
-Oil filter and new oil.
-fuel filter
-Replace grille so I can get lights back on.
-Replace hood strut which is missing.
-Cut the bucket lip and weld in 1/4" flat stock.
-Check levels everywhere else.
Questions are.
-Does the factory pin on bucket have a thicker welded on cutting edge or is the 1/4" sheet stock what you get for a lip from the factory? Intent was to get some 1/2" flat stock later and drill and bolt it on.
-What is the thread size for the factory oil drain plug so I can make sure I have the correct crush washer or opt for a quick drain valve.
-What other NECESSARY things would you do immediately?
Thanks.
