Auger is 24”, probably should have gotten a 18, but the ‘bota powered it just fine. Soil is sand, gravel, and tree roots.
I pray you never get that sucker stuck (with no reverse option from your PTO drive), update with some hole progress.

Turns out an 18” is easier to control and takes a lot less concrete. This 3-point mixer is invaluable for setting pole-barn poles. One load of 8-10 bags sets one pole. Hydraulic top link makes dumping easy. Have to run the engine at idle to keep from spinning drum too fast though and rear remote pressure makes the controls pretty touchy.

This weeks progress, 18 poles set, 4 to go. 2-1/2 pallets of 80 lb bags. Good thing we had a couple 20 year olds working for us!! Frame out next week.

Are you doing a concrete floor?
If you are, might i suggest hydronic piping before the pour.
My house and garage is all hydronic heated and it's super cheap and super comfortable!

1500 sf of foam plus 1000+ feet of pex is anything but cheap . That plus a boiler would add over $10k to the build. So no, I’m not doing hydronic. I’m insulating and installing the wood stove I already have.

I did my entire house and garage for far less than that.
A really good boiler (on demand) is about 2K.
But hey I get it, you don't want the cost.

I started buying materials for my house back in 2010 and stock piled a lot of it.
But almost all of the electrical and plumbing I didn't do until 2020 as I wanted the most up to date Equipment I could get.
Yes parts are not cheap, but they are only slightly higher than the last build I did 2 years ago.
I also built a second copy of my house 2 years ago.
I buy everything from some great supply houses, that I don't pay anywhere near local costs for parts.
The pex is $233.59 for 1000ft you would need 2 rolls to do all of it perfectly.
$1475.00 in foam, yes that's the expensive part of it.
That's all you need to do now, you can do a boiler and all other parts later.
The boiler you would use is $1299.77 for 199,000 BTU.
You would be looking at about $600 in supporting parts.
I have three zones in my garage and it's 1080 SF, for 1500 SF you would want to do 4 zones.

I might put down foam and plumb just to it’s there for later. Still need a trench and natural gas line.
