I see this on a regular basis @skeets

I certainly can't claim any "high ground" on this argument/predicament.

It seems like a vicious cycle.

Here is how it typically goes for me.

Me: Hi, I need a gasket for a 2008 Dodge Ram

Kid on the line: Duhhhh....what was that?

Me: I need a gasket for a 2008 Dodge........

KOTL; Ummmm..........Yea I can get that in 2 days for $1,195

Me....So can I....

Me hanging up. (#$%^%$$^^%%^^&&*...hole)

Me going to online store......Done in 5 minutes for $6.95 on my doorstep in 24 hours........

Yeah, I'll bet I'm going to have a similar experience.

Wife's Chevy Equinox has a TPMS and Rear Backup service messages. I think TPMS is right rear tire. Don't know much about the rear backup.....

While at the dealership, I suggested she also have brakes done and battery replaced. Brakes are due, battery is just old.

They said they'd quote the brakes and battery. I can do brakes, but February is not a good time for me to do brakes.

I've gotten very gun-shy about replacing batteries and causing ECM/ECU problems.....much of which I've seen here on OTT.

Pricey to have them done at the dealership, but it's already there. She's on the move a lot.....

I have a feeling it's going to be a struggle with the dealership.

They're going to want to fix A, B, C, and X, Y, and Z none of which are not part of our list ......and "we can't let you drive this the way it is..."

Car is 7 years old with 80k+ miles but otherwise is in decent shape.

If I had to guess, we'll do the TPMS and rear back up messages at the dealership. We've bought 12 new vehicles from this dealership, but it was bought by another dealer about 2 or 3 vehicles ago.

I'll take it to another shop for brakes and battery........

Wife's Nissan has had 'odd electrical' problems from day one( yeah, I KNOW what's really wrong), so before going on the 'roadtrip' of 6,000 miles, she goes to dealer...They charge her $80 for the diagnosisi, 'bad' battery. offer her 2 options. 1 ) they'll install a $400 battery or 2) they'll recharge her battery for $120.
yes, reread option #2....

she comes home$92 less in her pocket, son installs new $200 battery, I end up with her 5 year old battery that's worked fine for me since then

Also eliminated the ACTUAL problem........
