It's Propane Time....

It is that time of the year when the propane suppliers usually announce what they will charge you for a pound of propane under the yearly contract. What is the going propane rate that they are contracting for in your location?
I still can't get a fixed price from my supplier, and that is the reason that I ask.

In our region they sell propane by the gallon, not the pound. I was not aware that propane was sold by the pound anymore. That is because a gallon of propane weighs less at higher temperatures and less at lower temperatures. Anyway, I saw propane at $4.39 + sales tax the other day. That was for propane at the pump, not home delivery. Home delivery costs are different depending on the type of contract, whether you lease a tank or own, and how much you use. They even waive the lease fee if you use a minimum amount per year. Since I do not use propane for heat anymore except for the travel trailer I cannot tell you how much it costs for delivery out here.

Don’t have propane at our house, but got a thing in the mail from in of the local suppliers the other day and it was $1.99/gal

My cottage supplier has a "get it now price" by the gallon, usually from May 28'ish to June 15'ish

You gotta tell them how many gallons you want and they lock you in at that price.

If you don't lock it in, well......

Mine was filled yesterday, 8-30-23, $1.69 a gallon before the discount if I pay within 10 days, check went out today. I own my tank, and had signed up for the “summer fill” rate (no extra charge). I only needed 205 gallons to get me to 80%. We burn wood as our main heat source and last winter was mild.
We paid $2.19 a gallon the previous year.

We are paying $2.19 this year, down from $2.49 last year. We use propane for backup heat, hot water, and we have a propane stove.

Mid-Michigan I own the tank pre-buy 1.879 for 23-24 I use propane for heat, water heat and the dryer 800 gallons a year average.
