Is there a socket to put on the crankshaft of a D650 ?

I have a Kubota B6200. An individual swapped in a D650, the frame says B6200, engine casting says D650. It is a 4wd B6200D.

I want to repair it to use it in the garden. I have tried soaking the pistons down with Kroil. I have tried to tap the engine front crankshaft pulley flats with no luck. I have tried to heat the engine up with little luck.

The rings are stuck and I believe if I were able to break them loose I could get the engine running and assess whether it is worth building and also if the block has some crack I've not been able to see somewhere.

The crank has no traditional automotive damper and it appears the pulley is held on by press fit onto the fine splines.

Can any of you fine lads tell me if there is a splined socket that Kubota makes that will fit the splines on the tractor ? I think it would be a 22spline socket and 18mm ? I know I could drive on a socket and then use 1/2 drive but I don't want to run the crank for future splined use.

PS: I am aware that the D650 isn't supposed to be in a B6200D, I only saw the D850 had been pulled once I got the tractor loaded on the trailer. Nothing to be done at that point. At some point the seller's face will meet someone's fist- it's called karma. Should have known to cancel the check and leave it with him when he laid the excuse on me that the battery was dead.

Thanks boys.

If I were trying to rotate a seized engine,I would remove the starter and work on levering the ring gear on the flywheel.

This will give you a lot more leverage on the crankshaft than something attached to the front end of the engine where the radius from the crank center line is small i.e. 1/2 of the 18mm

^^. This would also rule out the starter as possible cause of the seized engine. I actually bought a car years ago with a seized engine And it turned out to be only the starter frozen and extended to the ring gear. Not common, but does happen.

or, if you really want to spin from the crank. You can buy a spline coupler or spline adapter, weld a socket to it and have what you are looking for. I’m not sure if anyone makes one.

I pulled the starter. I tried getting my prybar in there. I may have to look on Ebay for a junk starter to pull the gear out of that engages the ring gear, take that gear and get a socket that will fit inside and then weld it up. I broke loose a John Deere 420C 2cyl J. Popper that way. Ya'll made me think of doing that 20 years ago.

I'll try the prybar on the ring gear then try to find a junk starter.

As far as replacement engines- been to 6 tractor junkyards, looked for Jacobsen's and Cushman's and diesel light displays, gen sets- no tickee, no washee. Me have no tickee, so as a result- outta luck.

can you engage the PTO and put pipewrench on the PTO to spin the engine ??
I've done that in the past with gas engine to get the distributor correct for poit gap adjustment.

Trying to force the engine to turn is going to do more damage than good, no matter how you force it.

If the engine is seized you're going to need to pull the engine and disassemble it and rebuild it, period, there is no short cuts or magic sauce to fix it.

FYI: Disassembling a seized engine is a real joy (NOT), getting to some of the bolts on the rods will be tricky at best.

Need to get the tractors serial number, as that model of tractor was built 2 different ways.
They came with 2 different motors, and different supporting parts.
One without a water pump and one with water pump.

Rebuilding a D650 is a tough task as parts for that model engine are getting very hard to acquire, the D750, D850, And D950 are easier to get most parts for.
Also rebuilding it is not a cheap task, you're looking at $2 to $2.5 k if you want it done right and that's if no hard parts are broken.
It's very uncommon for the blocks to get cracked or otherwise damaged, but it will need re-sleeved if there was water in the pistons.
The heads are prone to cracking and should be inspected first before you put anything else into it, as that head is scarce at best.

I have a D850 that has been fully rebuilt.
it is for sale but shipping usually kills any kind of deal I could make on it.

There is another member on here in your neck of the woods that might be able to help you get the right engine for it.
