Hello all,
I just ordered an MX600 with loader form my dealer. He asked if I wanted to upgrade the seat to an air ride sea for a mere $915. I was interested until he gave me the price. I still have time to change the order. Is the air ride seat worth the $915 or is the standard seat just fine? I did order the arm rests for the factory seat. Does the air ride seat come with arm rests? TIA for your response

I dont think it is worth it. I have a mx5200 and the seat is plenty comfy. Ans the fender provide enough of an arm rest. Heck both my arms are busy doing stuff most of the time anyway.

I've had an MX6000 since February with a little over 100 hours of seat time in the basic seat. It's way more comfortable than the BX I used to have. However, when I ordered the new MX6000 with cab (that's being delivered tomorrow or Wednesday) I ordered the air ride seat. Yes, I absolutely think it's worth the money but it does depend on what you do with your MX. The upgraded seat won't make much difference this winter blowing and pushing snow, but once I'm running the rotary cutter next spring and summer, the seat will be very much appreciated.

I still had to order the armrests when I ordered the air ride seat.

I have no clue what the air ride seat feels like. But I think the standard seat is pretty comfortable with the spring supports. Way more comfortable than the seat on my old JD. I did order the arm rests and think they are worth it.

Going from the Farmall C to a new Kubota, the standard seat is just fine.

Only air ride seat I’ve used on a tractor is briefly in my brothers 50hp JD. It was nice but nowhere near worth the cost for my use. Going from a 9N and Farmall H the standard Kubota seat has been quite adequate for me. My brother went to the air ride because he’s about 260lb, his wife is about 100lb, they both use it often, and they were forever fiddling with it to adjust the spring tension every time they switched operators. The air ride seat he bought (I believe it’s some sort of Grammer) has memory presets so they can hit a button and it quickly adjusts to their preset preferences. I’m less than 260, my wife weighs less than me but more than 100, and she doesn’t drive it much so we have no impetus to put that much into the air ride.

My possibly ignorant suggestion is skip it and if you really want it later, add it later.

I have only 11 hours on my MX6000 and so far I’m happy with the standard seat. My dealer “threw in” the arm rest and bucket level indicator. I don’t have any experience with the air ride seat, I might like it but it is a pricey upgrade.

If you plan to spend any time in your seat it's worth every penny. K OEM seats just suck...great if you enjoy sciatica. You will spend more than $915 on physiotherapy and massage therapy.

FYI I'm looking for an air ride seat for my tractor and can't find one under $1,000. AND I have to modify the seat base to make if fit my tractor.

I have several air seats in trucks and bigger farm tractors and love them. Bought a new zero turn mower a year ago and it has the air seat love it. Have one in my skid loader wouldn't be with out it. I bought a MX-6000 back in June In a crate it doesn't have one. I put enough hours on it in a year its going to be getting one on it probably over the winter. If I can buy one without arm rest I will. I just don't use arm rest. I think the thousand bucks is worth it.

Considering that the most expensive La-Z-Boy rocker and recliners are around $600, it seems Kubota would be making a windfall profit selling air ride seats.

When you think about the cost of back pain or a back injury the air ride seat is an affordable upgrade over the life of the tractor. Sitting is just about the worst thing you can do to your back resulting in something like four times the loading compared to standing. Bouncing up and down over rough terrain causes an incredible amount of compression of the discs in the spine so anything that reduces that loading is money well spent.

I plan on keeping the new MX for many, many years so that $900 or so will end up costing pennies a month.

I'm with mikester . About 2-3 hours is the max I can spend in the seat before I start hurting. I'm 230 lbs. and it bottoms out even on the stiffest setting. Only reason I haven't gone to air ride yet is I really like my seat cover 🚜

I upgraded to the air ride seat when I purchased my tractor in 2020. Several reports and posts about stock suspension seat bottoming out with drivers that weighed 200lbs or so. Many other posts on how to modify the stock suspension seat to avoid bottoming out. The final factor in my decision was how easy it is to switch suspension setting when my wife operates the tractor. I am very satisfied with the air ride seat. FWI, make sure if you upgrade to air ride prior to taking delivery of your tractor that you also claim the old seat. Dealers love to keep the stock seat and resell them. I had to argue that if the tractor came stock with the seat and the dealer offered no credit toward the cost of the air ride the old seat belonged to me. It was a heated discussion.

This is a really good point. My dealer told me that I can keep the rear glass since I upgraded to the one with the defogger. I plan on getting the "old" seat too. I don't think anything else was jettisoned for an upgrade but I'll have to check.

I need to make a correction. The air ride seat does come with armrests and I was charged $1,107 for the seat, the harness and installation.

I asked the dealer about that. He said the $915 was the charge for the upgrade. To buy it outright after the original seat is “used”would be @ $1300. They keep the original unused seat to resell. You don’t get both for $915.

I posted these photos in another thread but you get more than just an air suspension with the air ride seat. The armrests are adjustable for angle, the head rest is adjustable for height, and there's an adjustable lumbar support, not to mention a cloth covering rather than plastic.

Is this seat worth $1,107 ... heck yeah!

According to the build sheet on Kubota.com and the Bill of Sale I received from the dealer, the part number is L6026. The wiring harness or Air Ride Kit has part number MX6027.

The vinyl is for rops tractors, and the cloth is for cab. Same seat design, just different coverings. I would suggest you find a different dealer. My air ride seat upgrade did not require my old seat as a core charge...
