Once you go Android you'll never own/rent/lease another Apple product....
Did not work that way for me. I bought a Samsung android tablet out of curiosity, to use on my back deck. It was cumbersome for me and I ended up upgrading my ipad to a more recent model.

This could just be a familiarity issue, but I really did give the android table a go. Still have it but never use it...wasted my money in the end, but it was a learning experience.

Not that I am a total Apple fan. I use PCs for my computers and have several of them.

Same here. Tried everything before surrendering to Apple. At the time android and Blackberry just wouldn’t sync company calendars & contacts reliably. That was a must.

Interesting tidbit, most people engaged in education use Apple products because Apple allowed you to time your downloads vs PC that forced them on you. Imagine powering up your laptop to start a lecture you are being paid to present and getting the message downloading update 1 of 24. Computer will need to restart after install.

Just another instance of the big guy not caring about improving products while the small guy eats his lunch. Apple ran circles around them for years. Now I wonder if Apple is the big guy…..

I’ve stayed in the ecosystem ever since, even using https://mac.eltima.com/free-universal-remote-app-for-iphone/ to handle all my office hardware and TV displays directly from my phone whenever the physical remotes decide to act up.
Hi there! Sorry for bumping such an old thread, I realize it’s been about 4 years since this discussion was active.

I’m actually in a bit of a dilemma and wasn't sure if I should start a entirely new topic, so I figured I’d ask here since you clearly value that reliability for professional work.

I’ve recently moved over to an iPhone as well, but I’m trying to find a truly dependable app for precision terrain mapping or field boundaries that doesn't fall apart when you're out in a remote area with zero signal. A lot of the guys around here use various GPS apps for their tractors, but many seem to rely on a constant cloud sync that just doesn't work in the dead zones I deal with.

Since you mentioned that syncing company calendars was your dealbreaker, have you come across any specific apps for the agricultural/machinery side that handle offline data syncing as gracefully as the native Apple apps do? I’m looking for smth that lets me log work or map a field offline and then pushes everything to the office the second I'm back on WiFi without creating duplicate entries or crashing. Thanks!

You should start a new thread with a title more aligned to your subject. I don’t really understand what you are looking for but this person builds a bunch of automated gadgets and in this video (I think it is this one) he discusses a device that helps farmers that are using automated machines to get more precise location information by putting the device around their property. I believe it ties into the cellular network and the satellite system to triangulate position.

Then there are mapping surfaces that surveyors can use to get accurate information about the terrain.

Good luck in finding what you want.
