I purchased a Pressure tester/Adjustment kit Any tips? 2100 PSI good starting point? BX25.

I purchased the below kit, Any tips? I was reading though old threads and people were saying how they need to Remove the FEL and the Backhoe as well as the rear rim. I am looking at it and I don't believe any of that is needed unless I am looking at the wrong port in the rear.

I can't see why you would need to remove anything on the front. That makes no sense to me.

Me either, I believe I am looking at the correct port on the pump to remove to replace shims, I'll confirm when I get the kit.

You need to unplug ONLY one port ........ you pick a color on the FEL and go for it.

Do it cold and do it at idle then increase the rpm's......... you can take a couple of readings.

As for starting PSI - I think you will find 1750 ish to be the norm - you might get 1800. A small shim will get cha close to 2000 PSI and I think you should stop close to that.

I have 2 bx's - both of them have been increased from 1750 ish to 2000 ish ....... took about 5 minutes and the difference is noticeable too.

BX25D here as well. I’ve never felt the need to increase my lifting pressure…maybe I got a good one to start with? Ain’t gonna mess with a 10+ year old machine that has NEVER disappointed…😊

Just curious, with an L2501, increasing the hyd pressure 250 psi would translate to how many extra pounds lifting capacity? Anyone have an idea?

What RPM should I check it at? BX says check warm, Is warm or cold better?

Thanks

Warm will give you a more realistic reading - as the fluid gets hot the PSI will drop.
Either way - you will have a before and after setting.

The Kubota WSM typically says to measure pressure at operating temperature and close to maximum engine RPM. If the system is tight and in good condition it really does not matter much.

So I tested the Pressure after warming the machine up for about 15 Min and running the loader and back hoe though its motions, I got 1,800 PSI. I put in the 2 thickest shims and it jumps to 2,200 but then settles right down to 2,000 PSI. I was looking for 2,000 PSI but am I supposed to go by the reading it spikes to for a second or the one it settles down to.?

I dont know how you hooked the gauge up but the spike is probably just the lag in the relief valve fully opening. The2000 PSI is the steady state once its open and thats what you use.

I hooked it up to the First port closed to driver where the loader hooks to.

Didn't think it would, i was just letting you know where I hooked it, Mine wasn't as low as some peoples PSI, We'll see if I notice the difference.

Remember the days when you had those weights strapped to your ankles and you ran around or played basketball? AS SOON as you took the weights off - it was like, wow, I can jump higher, run faster etc.

The next day everything seemed to the same as before...... that was a change for the moment.

With this hydraulic change - you will be able to lift a bit more weight in your FEL than you did before. IT will be noticeable and it will stay that way.

On my BX1850 - the ass end of my tractor can get very light if I pick up too much - it's psi has be raised too.

Kubota set the lower PSI for the very reason - so than people will not "tip over" while picking up too much weight.

Just remember - with the added lift comes heightened awareness OF what not to do.

I watched a few videos of people adjusting there pressure and theirs seemed to climb steady to max pressure and not go over, Mine does go over by 200 PSI briefly and drop. I Don't think that surge should cause an issue but I am curious why mine does it.

It is more twitchy more noticeable with the backhoe.

Describe your test procedure in greater detail.

Is your gauge in parallel or series and how many reliefs in the circuit under test?

What action is used to generate max pressure?

Warmed tractor up for about 15 Min, Hooked to first port for the FEL which I believe is the down function. I raised RPM to about 3,500 RPM and slowly moved the lever I believe tractor only has one relief valve.

I looked at the price of the BX hydraulic pump at Messick's while looking for a spare 3-Point Lower Arm C-Clip...not gonna lie, I have the Shim Kit and am not going to adjust the pressure over Maximum Rated Working Pressure. It's a tiny pump that commands a big price.
