I specifically said the 'DIYer' WOULD have the proper tools and instructions so again what's 'magical' about them ? Gus rebuild complete engines, trannies every day... Heck I know a kid( he was 16 then ) tore his C6 out of his 69 Mach1, totally rebuilt it in a single car garage, gravel floor, used my '67 Ford WSM .
I've rebuilt HSTs for riders over the years, lots of parts in them...
I rebuilt the hydraulic pump for my CA, 3 piston, 3750 PSI. Only problem was 2 hrs looking for the check ball that went 'walkabout'., so what's the 'big deal' ?
It'd be nice to see actual diagram of 'what's inside'.
Yes, I agree that the guy shouldn't have opened it up since he didn't have proper documentation but in the end , it's just a bunch of parts, someone, somewhere assembled.
Just because you think something is so does not make it so.
The DYI'er in this post and 99.999999999% of the DYI'er's do not have the proper tools.
A DYI'er does not have a pressure bench that moves the individual pumps to do any tests.
They do not have a pressure test rig to be able to test the individual pumps, let alone know the proper shim to put in the pump to make up for the spring differences, to set the pressures.
Then without a computer controlled test rig you can't set the curve on the pump to get the timing right between the injectors.
The DYI rebuilt pump might or might not put out fuel.
The DYI rebuilt pump might or might not leak.
The DYI rebuilt might or might not supply the proper PSI to pop the injector
The DYI rebuilt might or might not pop that injector off at the right time.
The DYI rebuilt might or might not pop all three injector off at the right time.
The DYI rebuilt pump is 99.999999% junk at this point.
