I have a friend that is a maintenance man at a local Catholic school. What he asked me is light years above my pay grade regarding the school's F2400. Bottom line the engine was leaking fuel and he determined it was from the injector pump. He tore into it and now he has parts that came off/out of the pump that he has no idea where they came from and therefore no idea how it all goes back together.
Now with that being said and all that I have assimilated through osmosis from you all... I think he's in a world of hurt.
Is there a diagram that shows the "innards' of that particular injector pump?
He seems to think everything is like plug and play... easy peasy.
Any suggestions, comments or diagrams that I may point him towards? Thanks in advance!

curious, looked online ,Canada,eh.... pump is $2000 Cdn (NO internal parts....)

Sure pump repair is 'easy', IF you have the proper tools, IF you have the correct parts and YOU have the skillset to work on them.

Heck, there's fewer parts in the pump than an HST unit or a gear tranny BUT can HE fix it ?? Roll of the dice.

Big problem is WHERE was it 'leaking fuel' ? Sure hope it wasn't a simple gasket on the feed line..as no need to turn it into a 'science project' !

I'm sure others will reply...odds are option 'A', ''order new pump' or option 'B','take to specialized repair shop'

I looked at Kubota illustrated parts list and Messicks and nothing showing for internal parts of the injection pump. All that was shown is below

But WOW I don’t think he is going to be happy about the price of new pumps. There is a break in part number for the injection pump so be careful with that

OOPS!
That's a costly mistake.
That pump is not a DYI rebuild.
If it was leaking fuel into the crankcase (which by the way is very very rare on these injection pumps) it need to be sent to a qualified rebuilder.
He needs to pack all parts up and send it off to a rebuilder.
It's a lot more common for the lift pumps to leak fuel into the engine.

I can rebuild them, but if it truly had a fuel leak it's not as simple as just putting it back together.

I passed along all the info we collected on rebuilding the fuel pump on the F2400. He pretty much laughed and said he can easily do it. I asked him where he got his info. You Tube! I then asked what was his query on you tube to come up with all his info. He said he just typed in "Kubota F2400 Fuel pump rebuild" .
I just looked it up ... rolled my eyes and said to myself.... He is in such deep %(%$#@!

OK, I'm curious, humour me, I'll be the 'Devil's advocate, what is so special about that pump ? Really, some Kubota guys on an assembly line BUILD them, 'specialty' shops rebuild them, so providing you've got the tools and instruction sheet... why does 'everyone' say a 'backyard bodger' CAN'T reassemble the pump ?

That's a fair question...

Because as a DYI'er you would not have the tools and test equipment to be able to measure and time it on rebuild.
It's not as simple as throw the parts into it and it will run, period.

I have dealt with so many of these pumps, that a well meaning individual has torn apart, it doesn't ever end well for them or the pump.

Jailbirds running the prison? Sounds like job creation by an employee without supervision doing stuff that would get you fired if you didn't work for a clueless school board.

I specifically said the 'DIYer' WOULD have the proper tools and instructions so again what's 'magical' about them ? Gus rebuild complete engines, trannies every day... Heck I know a kid( he was 16 then ) tore his C6 out of his 69 Mach1, totally rebuilt it in a single car garage, gravel floor, used my '67 Ford WSM .
I've rebuilt HSTs for riders over the years, lots of parts in them...
I rebuilt the hydraulic pump for my CA, 3 piston, 3750 PSI. Only problem was 2 hrs looking for the check ball that went 'walkabout'., so what's the 'big deal' ?

It'd be nice to see actual diagram of 'what's inside'.

Yes, I agree that the guy shouldn't have opened it up since he didn't have proper documentation but in the end , it's just a bunch of parts, someone, somewhere assembled.

Sorry Butch,
I didn’t need the guys name. Its just that forever more when I hear of somebody doing crazy things while being cocksure theyre correct, I will be wondering if their name is ‘Joe’.
