The hummingbirds have been gone for 2 or 3 weeks now but still plenty of geese and ducks not to mention more then our share of morning doves.

We've got a lot of resident geese here in upstate New York.
While it's been years since I hunted, I looked up the Goose Season here. You need a "Duck Stamp" to hunt migratory fowl.
I was kinda shocked to see the 5-day or so season in November (?).
All I could think was a season similar to that NCL4701 has, with 5/day would be the best thing. October, before the migratory flocks are moving....thin the resident flocks out..

I havent seen Monarch butterfly's migrating for I bet 30 years,, we had one large group that came through like I said 30 or so years back. They settled on a tree in the upper field, the tree looked like it was covered in shimmering gold
Well with border being still covidddd closed the greese are awaiting vaccines and test results... sorry I'm not for or against either but that's what everyone seams to say is the problem. Lol

Hummers left here almost 3 weeks ago. Red wing blackbirds moving south now. Sounded like spring this morning. Gone by late morning. We are out of the flyway for the geese so don’t see that now.

If you want Monarch butterflies, plant LOTS of milkweed ! It's supposed to be their only food supply...

But thats a good thing, the Canadians need to keep their noisy dirty birds up there.I'm going broke going to the golf course to feed them at night.
I've seen a few but not like 30 years ago when there would be a string a hundred yards long floating by.
Its them dang leprechauns thought it was gold too and cashed in on them. Now the monarchs are afraid to migrate back lmao
Rufous left a little while ago.. The Anna's overwinter with us - last year had about 20 ( they are tough to count). Yesterday ...

yeah they're here year round. Same deal they breed/multiply, and poop everywhere. I say run them off but it don't matter because the locals take their kids out to see the "ducks" (geese!).
Someday some soccer mom's gonna take the rugrats out to see the "ducks" and the "ducks" aint' gonna be in a very good mood especially if they have "ducklings" around them....
If you've been attacked by a goose, you know. If not, you just don't. I don't trust them.
On the river, they gang up in groups of 50 to 200. I've had them get into the boat with me. I shoo them off but they act like I'm the aggressor. Bunch of jerks. I hate them for the most part. Ain't even any fun to shoot (hunt) anymore. Too much work, too expensive, too regulated.
speaking of migrating birds....we was out fishing the salt, 9.5 miles out to see in the Gulf of Mexico, a while back. The darn hummingbirds!! They were landing on the boat to rest, landing on US, our fishing equipment, I bet there were 50 hanging around. Do they really fly over open water like that? And how!?

They’re best left alone if possible. Been attacked once when my son and I got too close to a nest by the pond we didn’t know was there. Son was a little fellow so the gander and I were both in protect the kids mode. The gander didn’t want to discuss it calmly so after I discovered the origin of the term “being goosed” he discovered sometimes if your opponent steps back it’s not a retreat, it’s just so they can get a little room to kick you harder. We both discovered if there are no Karens around a boot to the furcula will swiftly create some distance and achieve a grudging truce without causing any long term damage. Not a pleasant experience, but I’m not going to have my ass kicked by a goose on my own property.
Still kind of like having them at the pond. That pair came back every year for several years after the incident. Avoid the nest areas when we can but if we can’t they’re not overly aggressive.
