On the JD there is a panel at the rear of the machine and there are a half dozen fitting which they grease daily. He said these grease all the points on the machine. He had a lincoln battery grease gun and just fed the tubes of grease to it. While I there watching he used 6 tubes of grease. The machine reminds you of something you would see on a star war program. To get out there is button that lowers the steps and another to open the hood which both are hyd. The back bumper was as high as the mans head. These that were here had 3 axles with the 2 under the saw head having tracks about 4 foot wide on them. They were here for 6 day with 2 machines and cut 30 acres for a total of 1300 cords of wood ready to haul to the pulp mill. The head is calibrated to guage the size of the wood and length to get the cors footageCan you imagine how many grease points that monster has? I bet it take three hours to hit all the nipples and check the fluids!
Makes you wonder how they are holding up in the field now that they have been in use for a few years...
