We'd been below freezing (22 - 27°F) for the last week, light breezes of 8-12 knots.
Early yesterday morning I was out walking the dog to the end of our little (dirt) country lane to get the paper, and on the way back I heard the wind come up a bit harder and felt this surge of warm air. By noon, the air temperature was 48°F but everything on the ground was still frozen.
Last night, we've been getting moderate breezes of 15 knots, gusting over 40. This morning we have a bit of wind, average speed 25 knots, gusting over 58 knots. Air temperature is in the low 30s, but not quite freezing.
I think we might be one of the warmest places in the continental US right now, at about 47°F. I was coming back from the paper-box this morning and heard a big gust rolling toward me. I braced myself, but it still moved me around a bit. Not sure how hard it was blowing but the spring-loaded Flexi-leash I have on the dog was pulled all the way out and blowing to the side!
