I can't believe the temps they've been quoting on the news for parts of the US and Canada, amazingly cold, stay safe (and warm) people.

-1 but feels like -16 here in southern Illinois.

I enjoy cold weather but this is a bit much.

One thing I've learned living in SI, If you don't like the weather, don't worry its going to change. Supposed to be 44 by the end of the week.

40 when I went to bed last night and 9 when I got up this morning. No work due to the cold and plenty of wood in the basement to keep the fire burning hot all day.

Yes burt, certainly know who he was, dont forget the Sir part;):) (1650-1709).
a few genaration along the way then, any marine interest with yourself now burt.
Rob,

Weather here is 16 degrees. It's been Sunny and highs in the 30's and 40's Fahrenheit.

Yes, Admiral Sir Rooke, I found about my relation to him after I served 6 years in the U.S. Navy. Not as famously as he served the British Navy though. I am proud of what he did and how he did it. I was a Radioman in our Navy. Sir Admiral Rooke was in a NAVY when ships were made of wood and men were made of steel!

Thanks for knowing about him. There is a great book called "To Rule the Waves." Great English history about how the NAVY was formed on your Island, why and even today, many of those traditions and terms, formations even inhabit our NAVY.

Too bad we didn't use tractors on ships. Except for carriers, there is no room for them.

-9 °F here in northern Indiana. Spent 2 hours this morning clearing driveways in our neighborhood. Without a cab it was cold but nothing a few layers couldn't take care of. We received about 15" of snow and already had 5ish on the ground. Really enjoying the Kubota. I have R4s and really haven't had an issue moving snow with them. Made some nice snow piles aka snow forts for the kids. 😀

Today, (Monday) started out at 56 F and raining. A lot of the 8" of snow we had is going fast. Later today will be about 18 to 22 F, and 9 to 15 F by morning.

Friday temp started out at -6 F, with a wind chill about -25 F.

I don't recall it being this cold in our area in my lifetime, I cleared my drive drove into town, cleared a couple more, then I was done. That wind is killer and we didn't really get much snow.

It was 55F during the day today, all of the snow melted (~20"). It was between 0-10F the days before, and will be 10F tomorrow.

It was nice having the warmth today though.

We'd been below freezing (22 - 27°F) for the last week, light breezes of 8-12 knots.

Early yesterday morning I was out walking the dog to the end of our little (dirt) country lane to get the paper, and on the way back I heard the wind come up a bit harder and felt this surge of warm air. By noon, the air temperature was 48°F but everything on the ground was still frozen.

Last night, we've been getting moderate breezes of 15 knots, gusting over 40. This morning we have a bit of wind, average speed 25 knots, gusting over 58 knots. Air temperature is in the low 30s, but not quite freezing.

I think we might be one of the warmest places in the continental US right now, at about 47°F. I was coming back from the paper-box this morning and heard a big gust rolling toward me. I braced myself, but it still moved me around a bit. Not sure how hard it was blowing but the spring-loaded Flexi-leash I have on the dog was pulled all the way out and blowing to the side!

12 degrees here in Alabama, and only a little dusting of snow in the grass. It's a good sign that Auburn will win another National Championship tonight, because hell has froze over again :D

We are at 0F - high was only 2 or 3. Low of -5 to -10 forecasted tonight. WC at -35F. We had ~1 foot late last week.

An hour north is getting pounded by lake effect - Weather Channel just said up to 3-4 feet near Watertown, NY (they can have it)

26 degrees here in Southeast MA.

Snowing like crazy but it's supposed to turn to a mix around noontime. We could end up with 10" or so by the time the storms over and then another shot of winter over the weekend... :( :( :(

We finally got some snow here in the Western U.S. "across the pond and the dirt." We have a high this morning clear up to 8 degrees F. We're expecting wind chills of minus 15 degrees F. More snow is expected this coming weekend.

Our snow presently is what I term "decorator" quality. It's not deep enough to plow, nor is it a problem to walk in. It's like deep powdered sugar so far. In otherwords, it's not tractor quality yet. I hope we get some good old Kubota snow this weekend.
