Currently using a 7 foot mounted bush hog. Owners manual says max is 7ft mounted or 8ft pull type. I mostly cut tall & thick grass & weeds. Anyone using a 9ft mounted cutter?

I run a 12 foot bat wing with my M9, no issue. I also have a LP 8 foot single spindle and in thick stuff it works it a bit.
I'd say you'd be pressed in heavy stuff. with a 9, you have about 20 less horses than I do.

I use a HD 6' mounted cutter with my L6060 and it is often all it wants.
Relatedly, I've never heard of a 9' mounted single spindle cutter (never heard of an 8' mounted single spindle either) and would be interested in learning about either even though neither makes much sense.

I am not familiar with a single spindle cutter wider than 7'. When I bought my Bushhog 3008 (2 spindle 8'), I was advised that it would be easier than the 7'. The 3008 is ~20 years old and I have always been satisfied.
Didn't try the website but did look in my current LP hard copy catalogue.
I found 7' single spindle cutters but no 8' models and certainly no 9' models. The Woods BB840X 7' cutter that I recently sold was LONG. I cannot imagine an 8' single spindle model, let alone a 9' model.

I would think the amount of wear and tear a 8 or 9 foot would do to itself make them impractical. There would be an awful lot of twisting forces on the 3 point as you move across a field. Plus the great length would cause problems as you crossed ditches and humps that would lead to a great deal of scalping. I have a Rhino 96 that has 2 spindles that you must pay attention to or it hits the ground often. And the cutting area is only 4 foot compared to 8 or 9 foot.
A 2 spindle unit it much more practical as far as the physics of pulling it across a field.
There is a 10 flex mower built by RhinoAG a TS 10, that is rated at a very low 25 horse that might work. It requires only one rear remote. If I had a lot of pasture to mow I think I would look into one of these. As I think the fixed 10 foot mower are harder to get through gates and to transport on trucks.
The MX5200 would make a good fit to pull it.

I bought a new Woods MDS1260 mounted (either/or semi-mounted) twin spindle 10.5' cutter in 2008.
Never liked it and sold it a couple of years ago with less than 100 hours.
Since then I've owned a Woods BB840X 7' single spindle cutter (since sold) and now own a Woods BW 15.50 15' BW.
Didn't like the 7' mower and have serious reservations about the 15' BW but the jury is still out.
Really wanted the new LP HD 12' BW (no, not the light duty model) with optional ORC, but it would have cost nearly $3,500 more than the 15' Woods model that I bought with 8 tires rather than 6 (max) on the LP.
Time will tell.

That's the model that I wanted. I know of no other BW that is offered with a built in ORC.
I could have used a 3712 with either my M9960 or my L6060 (only with swivel hitch), but simply could not justify the price.

I have my 3008 Bushhog on a semi mount;
i/e lift arms on the front and wheels on the rear.
Hydraulic cylinder controls the rear height.

A 8' dual spindle is easier to handle than a 7' single. I have a 3008 bushhog and it's been a very good cutter. I haven't used it in several years since moving up to a 15' batwing. I can't imagine you being able to handle more than a 8' with a MX.
