Apparently you and I are in the same position. I asked the same question a few weeks back. there were several ideas for re-purposing items but, as you note were kind of lacking in "pretty." I was even offered a wonderful deal on a used take-off. with the shipping added from PA. i think it was about what I could buy a new one from the dealer for.

I just installed a new ROPS at the same time I rebuilt my steering gear. So, as soon as I find a reliable source for Aluminum sheet stock i'll just pull out my 5ft sheet metal brake and make one. I really wanted a "orange" fiberglass one but a polished alum diamond steptread one will have to do. After I anneal the edges I think i'll put a edge on the sides that's "J" shaped. it'll help with rigidity and water control for those sudden downpours. bolt in a few stiffeners, "U" shaped pieces running front to back, or maybe "W"'s instead to save on bumping the head on something kinda sharp. I still haven't figured out the u-bolt arrangement yet for attaching to the ROPS. Maybe bolt through the stiffeners.

Still thinking on it.... kytim

I found a few cab tractor roofs at John Deere and MF. I plan on cutting one down to fit my 7510 and welding a frame that will attach to the rops.

If I ever get time, I was planning to look at used golf cart tops- plentiful & cheap.

I had a machine shop fabricate a frame and I topped it with a 4x6' 3/4" piece of plywood. I painted the frame with bed liner. Total spend was about $350. I wanted a large canopy for Alabama summers but didn't want to pay $1,000. It worked great in the rain Sunday too.

A pic before I rounded the corners.

I found a roof for a Kubota rtv and cut a foot out of the middle and made some supports for it. Project cost $80 so far. I will paint it after I mount the LED lights front and back.

And now for something completely different: (found on the internet)

I'm surprised you don't see more of the folding style below in the US. It appears ommon in India.

Some nice looking work going on here. I've both a B7100 and a B2650, I'm getting inspired! Curious, any reason not to fit posts from the forward canopy corners to the loader or some other strong point? Doesn't seem it'd much impede views and would be a handy grip for hauling my old bones in and out. KingKubota, I like that bar you've got just forward of the steering wheel. Something you did yourself?

Lil Foot made me do it!
There's a method to my madness- now that you've tried it out & it worked so well, I can jump in with confidence that it was a good idea.;)
Seriously, it turned out great; my wife was even impressed, which is really high marks!

Golf cart tops? Since the canopy on my tractor found a tree branch and damaged it I would like to get a new top. Since my brackets are undamaged I should be able to just bolt on a new canopy. Where are those golf cart tops you show in the picture? I would love to have one of those.

Most golf cart dealers have a stash of used tops, especially those that do fleet trade-ins with golf courses. There used to be a regional dealer in Chandler AZ that had at least a half acre of them; sadly, I didn't grab one before they left.

I built this canopy for mine, but also serves as brush deflector and roof rack.
Having the shade makes all the difference in the world! I have used the roof rack as mobile scaffolding on jobs and to carry box blind stands back into the woods.

st8yd - I like that! Would you mind taking close-up pictures of the mounting location at the loader and the ROPS? Did you start with an auto rooftop carrier?
