Home made cup holder

I see post where folks spend up to $25 dollars to purchase a cup holder for their tractor. I read them because I find them somewhat entertaining and it reminds me to be thankful I took a welding class years ago to not be in that boat!

My L4240 has a cup holder "if that's what you want to call it" behind the seat on the left side, and it's about 2 1/2" deep. Can't reach back very easily with either hand to reach it. Here's my solution.

Had a piece of thin wall tubing like used for old time gas lights folks had in their front yard and cut off about 3 1/2". Had a assortment of flat washers, found one that just fit inside the tubing and welded it there. Had a piece of 1" x 1/8 bar, cut if off the same length as the tubing, drilled two 1/8" holes near the top and bottom, and welded it vertical on one side of the tubing. Used tapered head SS bolts to attach two neodymium magnets rated at 27# each.

A can/or bottled drink fits in a koozie and the whole thing rides where I can see and reach it. I put it on the loader tower and while grappling for two hours it didn't move.

Looks nice. Mine came with a cup holder built into the fender, I figured most did.

i made one for my atv years ago using pvc pipe and some zip ties. Lol. Didn’t look the best but worked fine. Yours is way nicer.

Thanks. As long as things work as intended that's really all that matters. I enjoy making things out of what most people call "junk". I buy those magnets in bunches of 10, and those little SS bolts were 17 cents each.

That is certainly very innovative & nice!

On that same loader post, but on the outside ( where you have the mirror) I have mounted a 5lb. dry chemical extinguisher.
Do you have a suitable extinguisher aboard?
I consider the 5lb. (dry chemical) size to be the minimum for meaningful effectiveness of an extinguisher.

I lost an entire house from not having enough extinguisher capability!

I like your idea so much, I built 1. I used 16 gauge sheet metal & rolled it. I left a 2” tail where I attached the magnets. Made a bottom a little larger then a quart bottle & welded everything up. Paint color is off, but plan to powder coat it the proper color when I do another project. I think it is different enough to get me by the original patent.

Great idea and very well made. I enjoy the thought process as much or more, as actual fabrication, on projects like this.
