I honestly think there was more to Fords original decision to make a E truck. They, like all manufacturers, have to meet emissions standards on the whole of their line. A lot of companies simply made an EV to bring their overall emissions down so they could keep making what most people want.

yup, Ford missed the mark with their EVs.
Had one of them 4 door Mustang-Es here in driveway for 3-4 hours,POS to put it mildly. I've had 4 or 5 real Mustangs, all '67s.
Now IF they'd made a battery powered reg cab/short box F-150... THAT would be a sellout ! PDQ off the line for the 'boys that need toys', hopefully decent power to tow or work offroad.

I would MAYBE be interested in an electric pickup IF it could pull my 14000 lb fiver to my Arkansas land (329 miles ) with at most ONE stop for a fast charge. Till it's available Ill just keep my Duramax

Working seven days a week thru the winter I always have my TV on in my shop.
Mostly the weather Channel or the Outdoor watching Jim Shockley put a hole in something.
Today on the weather Channel the story was "sub zero Temps send electric car owners reeling"....then you see a tow truck dragging a tesla from a store parking lot !!!!! Lol

Most don't understand it can take 1/2 the energy in the battery to heat itself to get it to supply SOME power to the car, then 1/2 of what's available gets used to defrost windows, heat seats, run the infotainent while waiting for AAA/CAA to tow you.....
heard about batteries dying and LOCKING you out of the car. wonder if they've updated the computer since that 'fun' !

The service from the pole to my meter socket and then to the 200 amp panel is all aluminum. The ends of the wires are coated with a product called No Ox, or something like that. The power from my generator to my transfer switch is all copper. If I could have afforded it 40 years ago I would have used all copper from the meter socket to the main panel, but the cost then was prohibitive as compared to the aluminum. If I were to do it today, the supply house would probably be delivering it by armored car with a bunch of guys with machine guns.

'funny' report at noon today.. there are only TWO Tesla charging stations in Ottawa, and you have to pay parking at them....

You mean to say people don't want to spend $100K+ on a truck that only does half the job?

Ford's "Lightning" (it hurts me to think of that truck as a "lightning") is plenty capable for the majority of pickup owners that don't need to tow 40,000 lbs (or whatever) and don't need 800 miles of range. However, cost is a huge concern with any of the ev's and the cost being what it is on the lightnings, runs a lot of customers off. I certainly can't afford it. And the truck is only part of the cost-remember a lot of folks still have to install charging equipment too which also adds cost. Plus sales taxes. There's $6500 sales tax on $100,000 which is due at the time of registration. Reg fees are also higher on electric vehicles. Costs are just too high at every aspect. People buy things on cost, if they can buy a regular ecoboost Limited for 70k but a lightning starts at 100k, then the extra 30k is not justifiable for most people.

It pains me that Ford used the term LIGHTNING for that truck. I had a 95 and I had a 2003. First and second generation Lightning. The gen 2 truck was far superior to the 95 but I liked the styling and the interior of the 95 better. Great trucks and actually useful for a suburbanite such as myself. The 2003 had just a 5,000 lb towing capacity which was anything I needed to pull including the race car, the boat, utv, atv w/another one on a small 5x8 trailer behind it, motorcycle on the trailer, I used it for a pickup truck. Many times hauled the car to the track, run the car in footbrake and run the truck in the street class after disconnecting the trailer. Won a number of races with the truck. Handled pretty good too for a 5,000 lb truck, fun in the hills of the northern part of the state (google: pig trail highway). I sure do miss it but with 400,000 miles on it, it was time for it to go to a new owner-traded for a 2003 F250 which I still have. Those were Lightnings, whomever determined it was a good idea to re-use the name on an electric truck needs a thorough mental examination in my opinion.

Do you get a parking ticket if you spend too much time at the station waiting for the battery to charge?

gee Lug, just $6500 for taxes, nice. Here in Ontario, I'd pay $13,000 on the 100K truck ( 13% tax rate...)
Also truck only comes with 'extension cord' as the charger so, open wallet for a class2 ( 240/40) charger. oopsy, electrical panel is maxed out,so I'd need another 100A service from the pole 120' away.Open wallet again ! Darn, transformer is maxxed(new house took the last 200a...). Hydro tossup...bigger transformer or add new one on another 4800 feeder. Either way power would be off for 1/2 day.
All in , I'm paying about 25 cents per KwH,yet I can drive to Niagara Fall or the Pickering Nuke in an hour. ka-ching...more coins out of my wallet.
Still can't get to SIL's place, maybe,maybe 2/3rds,then need a FULL charge,not a simple 5 minute 'top up'.

YES, you'd get a parking ticket according to the cute, little blond that was interviewed. Crazy thing is there's 2 FREE chargers within walking distance to me..only 3 people use them...

I don’t believe the prices you all are talking about. Ford Lightning qualify for the $7500 tax credit don’t they? Here are the MSRPS;

How in the h3ll can a dealer ask $100,000 for any lightening? What is the dealer doing to you?

those are US $ not Canuck Bucks... WE don't get ANY 'credit' for going green AND IF we did get a rebate, we'd still have to pay 13% taxes on the FULL price.
Yes F150Ls are $100k +- 'out the door' and that's the economy version.

Brother showed up with a 'platinum' ? F150, gasser, 2-3 summers ago...sticker price was $104K,so taxes on top would have been $13,500 +-.

FYI base price is $64000 cdn

that's $13,000 on $100K vehicle
about $7,000 on 69K.....

I can buy a LOT of gas for $7K !
