Amazing, but a bit unsettling too. I think my wife would tell me she’s leaving
but that I was welcome to go with her 😆

My wife would enjoy watching them but would refuse to leave the house after dark.

We live in upstate N.Y. we get them in our yard from time to time. Never really afraid, just leave them alone.. When I was a kid we knew a guy who had a camp in Newcomb..There was an old dump up there where people would go to watch the bears forage..Vern was part Blackfoot Indian..He gave me a picture which is lost to time of himself holding food over his head in his hand ( he was 6 Foot 4 inches tall ) while the black bear had his front paws on Vern's shoulders eating the food. He said " Their nothing but a big a dog ".. He said if the bear acted up he would swat them in the nose.. I always thought he was crazy. He lived to be a real old man, the bears never hurt him.. Mountain lions have been spotted too,.those are different story.

Until 2021 only black bear I’ve seen was on SUNY ESF property in Newcomb while in college mid-80’s..

I’m in central NY. First day of southern zone deer season 2021 I’m 95% sure I had a couple cubs come screaming through woods 40 yards from my back door.

Circled a big sugar maple and there were no tails on two black critters. Just glimpses in the low brush, but guessing 100 pounds each when they went around the tree.

Neat sight! Wish I got a better look.

Getting so hearing Fishers at night is common. They’re a potentially nasty animal for pets and farm animals.

Been several Mountain Lion sightings in our area also. I’m not sold they’re valid, but starting to be a believer.

Got a great look at two bobcat kittens roadside few years ago. Maybe 10 pounds. Little tykes but looked good. Cute as hell.

Rumor has it that I was at that dump many decades ago. I seem to remember that the rules changed after a few drunks found out that it is not safe to tease a bear. I went out one night to chase a racoon from our camp (Horicon area) garbage can and turned the corner to find a bear having a mid-night snack.
More often than not I was either in a tube at Brant Lake or fishing the Schroon.

LoL, that cartoon is funny. I really like Brant lake. It's a beautiful ride on our motorcycle In the Adirondacks.

Do you remember the Wilderness Lodge ?

Back Nova Scotia eh....
We saw where the Shelburne fire had burnt for like ten miles traveling on rt 103 I believe it was.
The fire fighters did one heck of a job. House after house with burnt woods within 100'. They saved alot of homes.
Not alot of wildlife. We saw two deer in Royal Annapolis on our return route to Yarmouth.
On the news there July 1 the carbon tax starts. A increase of .17 cents per litre.
The tax is on gas diesel fuel oil propane.
Current gas is $1.55 a litre. My truck has a 36 gallon tank I fill before we got on the ferry to Yarmouth. I put in $20. On our last day to safely get on the ferry and get fuel in the USA.
The news interviewed fuel companies and they were delivering seven days a week , one owner said you'd think it was the dead of winter.
Sales tax is 15% there by the way. Lots of
*---Trdeau stickers. And lots of poor novascotions will really suffer.

The government never imposed a tax that the politicians didn't find some way to justify but doesn't impact them as it does the common folk. Ever wonder what they do with all the money that they collect? The carbon tax was the brainchild of the guy that "invented" the internet!

The above is a nonpolitical comment and meant only to educate and inform the common man (and woman). (y)

If your fuel cost numbers are correct......$1.55 +.17 divided by .76 (CAD-USD conversion)= Fuel at $8.60 per US gallon!

This was from our hotel room in Yarmouth. $1.53.6 per litre I believe it said.
Nova Scotia is very pretty and we traveled off the main highway to see the country.
Many many poor looking places just like maine here. You'd need a good income to survive there for sure.

Should we assume that the per litre price pictured is BEFORE the .17 tax that you mentioned would take effect July 1st?

David Gordon Wilson first proposed a carbon tax in 1973.[64] In 1979, economist Milton Friedman expressed support for ecotaxes in general in an interview on The Phil Donahue Show, saying "...the best way to [deal with pollution] is to impose a tax on the cost of the pollutants emitted by a car and make an incentive for car manufacturers and for consumers to keep down the amount of pollution."
