Last Fall, I discovered the quick connect fitting of the backhoe for the return side was leaking. So, I bought a new fitting from Summit Hydraulics via ebay. The backhoe was removed for the summer and the new quick connect fitting was installed at that time so that I could get to the hose. Today, I wanted to re-install the backhoe and I am unable to get that fitting onto the male return. It's as though the cavity is not deep enough to let the fitting "click" onto the male.

This is what I bought: 1/4” Ag ISO 5675 Poppet Hydraulic Quick Connect Female Coupler, 1/4” NPT Thread

I've tried to look at the WSM for specs on that hose but can't find anything. I tried to look at Messick's to see if they had a listing but came up empty there. Would someone advise on this? It seems this should fit.

I thought perhaps the pressure was too high but I could press the button on the male so that's not it. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds and looks like you got the wrong coupling:

The right ones:

Just an educated guess but Kubota likes to use the ISO 7241-B series for their 1/4" and 3/8" body size couplers.

Probably like Dan says it isn't the right one.

I think that the 1/4” Ag ISO 5675 you have bought is the standard fitting used in a lot of snow plow connections for trucks.
If that is the style you have,
I have used a lot of them on my 8N self assembled hydraulics and so I used them some on my L2501 for rear outlets.
If in fact that is what you have I have found that
they come in ball and poppet style and sometimes they don't connect up to each other right.

They had a chart on Summit I used to compare my BH77 connectors to because I made a couple extensions hoses so I could move mine around when it settles before I moved in close.
I think mine are 3/8 or 1/2 so I am no help there on the exact one you need.

I'll see if I can contact Summit Hydraulics today. They have the same numbered connector but it says Kubota! Who knew? Apparently, I did not...and that may not be the problem.

The AG prefix, I think, stands for agriculture. That was the category anyway.

Thanks for the help. I'll report back.

I suspect you will find the "Kubota" couplers at Summit are just their ISO 7241B couplers listed with the Kubita number.

i know Kubota does not us "AG" couplers on their loaders and I suspect the backhoes are the same. They do use them on.1/2" rear remotes where thats the ibdustry standard but everything else is ISO 7241B.

If you have the old coupler locate the OEM part number stamped or etched on it. Historically they are supplied by Faster and easy to cross reference.

One other note...I had purchased lines with couplers from Discount Hydraulics in the past. They attached perfectly. DH has a minimum order so I can't get one from them. The female connector was a
FJX 04-06. It was not a quick connect but does that help identify what I'm looking for?

One other thing that has occurred to me...I saved the one I removed so maybe it has some identifying numbers. Why didn't I think of that first? Rhetorical, of course. :)

The removed one: Snap-tite 72C4 The number is not complete, with the base numbers followed by ... I have looked up Snap-tite. Looks like this would be compatible with the number Dan provided above. Summit has that, so I'll get one and see. Thanks, Dan.

With all the Japanese characters on Snap tite website, perhaps this is the original coupler! Worked OK for 20 years. :)

The 72 series couplers are ISO 7241-B couplers and will not interconnect with ISO 4265 couplers in any body size. There are many brands and sources for 7241-B couplers.

OK...am ordering the Kubota coupler from Summit but am having a hard time canceling the ISO 7241-B order just placed prior. What a mess. Live and learn, I guess. :) But at this rate, I should already be a genius.

Finally found an etched number on the quick coupler fitting that goes from the inlet side to the return side. It is a Summit number but I can't seem to find it on their site...probably and OLD number.

Summit F04N 0420

Could this have been replaced by this:

Kubota 7J612-66323 Replacement Female Hydraulic Quick Coupler, 1/4″

I apologize for the ignorance but there are some things you just can't hide.

I see no need for an apology. We are ALL born ignorant and most of us spend the rest of our lives filling in the gaps.

Have you tried reaching out to @summithydraulics on this forum for help? They run a thread here and are a vendor sponsor. They might give the help you need with your order to get everything straightened out.

Yes, BAP, I knew Summit was on the forum. I didn't reach out to them here, however. Maybe it would've been a good idea. I will say that they did handle things very well, under the circumstances. The customer (me) wasn't sure what to buy and ordered the wrong thing. Then it was back and forth trying to get the right one ordered. The website was quite expansive but a little difficult to understand what was going on.

The good part is that the part is on the way and I hope it is the right one!

I wasn't ignoring your's or OH's. Just in my old 71yo way referencing what I thought was that 5675 number in the first post.
Always happy to see and read what you 2 add to any thread as it is fact based. I have picked up a lot here
from many, sorry for another ramble but I tend to write like I was in the same room with people just having conversation.

When I replumbed the 4in1 loader fitting to individuals, I went to the Kubota dealer 7 minutes from me, paid the price and 20 minutes later was 'up and running'. No muss, no fuss, no cuss. The dealer, Galer has GREAT knowledgeble staff. Heck what I SAVED on buying tires on rims more than paid for the proper fittings, several times over !

No, NIW, I didn't ignore your post and suggestion. At the time, I didn't see that post. After numerous searches, etc., I finally did see the info and that's the one that I ended up ordering. Wish I had seen it sooner!

Now...the truth is in the seeing! I have great respect for your wide range of knowledge...along with others on this board. I'm never disappointed in the wonderful help and it's so freely given. When the fitting comes, I'll be thrilled to have further confirmation that you know what you're talking about. :)

What I don't understand, however, is where to find info like this. You'd think Kubota would list that in the specifications for the backhoe. OR, they do have it somewhere but I'm not privy as to where to find it.

Anyway, NIW. Thanks for helping with a link.

Kubota goes out of their way to make part numbers opaque.

The OEM coupler that Kubota part number identifies is an ordinary off the shelf Faster HNV 1/4" coupler with 1/4" NPT female threads.

Faster HNV couplers are ISO 7241B and will interchange with any other ISO 7241B coupler.

Please tell us what part number is stamped/etched on the "Kubota" coupler you get from Summit. Here is my guess: B14F-14N

Should be interesting and I will post it when it comes. The part from Summit that didn't fit had 7241 on it, I believe. I'll have to check more closely when I take it off. The etching is small and my eyes are not young! The part number on their site for the order:
Kubota 7J612-66323 Replacement Female Hydraulic Quick Coupler, 1/4″ NPT
