New member/thank you to all the people who take time to help others along the way – thank you.
I owned a B6000 for twelve years and hung a B2551 off of the back of that poor beast, to get me from my house to the road (500 ft away); I live in the foot-hills of Maine (where it snows). You should have seen the face of the all the guys at the local Kubota dealer when I took it in to get the PTO shaft cut down for the snowblower; I felt like such a loser (I’m kind of poor). But...for twelve years, that little tractor did just enough to save the day (but not without some very harrowing moments that, thank-god, no one was recording on their smart-phones). Anyway...this spring, I swore I wasn’t going to torq my back ever again, going in reverse – and I sold the mini-beast. I was determined to find something with a front PTO (that I could afford). Five months later (shaking my head), I admitted defeat and just bought a 1977 B7100 standard transmission drive (28698) with the loader and 1550. hours, for $5100 (it was listed for $5800). I desperately need to freshen this unit up, find a 48/51/54 snowblower and get it ready for winter, quick. I would appreciate your help regarding the following punch-list:
FEL; I want to drain/replace fluids/clean screen – can you please confirm capacity of system, so I know how much to buy and is there one or two screens in the fittings to clean. Is there anything else that I should do to the FEL/pump ?
Front-end; I want to drain/replace fluids – what do I use and how much ? Any tips or additional info on that ?
Exhaust; I want to swap the horizontal muffler for a vertical set up – has anyone done this ?
Hydraulics; I want to drain/replace fluid and clean screen – any advice on what to use and capacity ? Any tips/cautions when doing this ?
I want to replace the front rims as they’re rusting around the valve-stems and put on new ag tires/bar lugs; can somebody confirm wheel size and tire size for updated/wider ag tires like the Carlisle Trac Chief ?
I also want to put the Carlisle Tru Powers on the rear (plan to keep rear wheels); what size please.
Should I install a radiator hose heater on it (it seems to start much easier than the B6000) ?
Does anyone have the fuel-filter and oil filter numbers handy (what’s the favored oil to run for winter apps) ?
What are your thoughts on anything else that I should do ?
Any tips/recommendation on best (cheapest) place to get above stuff ?
Thank you very much for your help.
