Gas in plastic bags .......

Double bagging is key... When I was younger I was changing a fuel filter on a car and couldn't find a glass jar to catch the gas when I disconnected the hoses. So I went inside and grabbed a disposable plastic cup. Needless to say the gas melted the cup in seconds but I learned not to do that again in the future.

For sure, lots of stupid people out there, but a lot of the blame should go to the station attendant as well. With the mirror set-up most of the stations have, the attend should be shutting off the pump, to help the idiots out. I believe the law states that fuel can only be pumped into legal containers.

I saw in my Kubota owners manual that death is mentioned 62 times, add to that the serious injury, reproductive harm and cancer (only in Kalifornia) we may as well fill the trunk with bags of gasoline.

Put bags in cooler, pop them. Drain into funnel from cooler drain. Duh!

Saw a PSA a couple days ago warning not to put gasoline in plastic bags. Two immediate thoughts:

1) Who is stupid enough to put gasoline in a plastic bag? The video at the top of this thread answered that, so thank you.

2) I have yet to hear anything warning not to put diesel fuel in plastic bags. Either the PSA people think that’s acceptable or they figure diesel drivers have enough sense to not put fuel in plastic bags. I’m going with the latter explanation on that one.

When I first heard about the warning, I assumed it had to do with yet another person soaking greasy engine parts in a gasoline filled baggie. But this is a new one, never seen this one before!

True story: My father was a fireman for over 50 years. He comes home from a run where the guy "Flicked his BIC" lighter over the open gas tank. He was checking to see how much gas was in the tank.

I actually know an Ex-Fireman that was doing the shift inspection of the fire truck and when checking the battery water " flipped his bic " so he could see the water . He got lucky & didn't lose an eye.
My Dad was 25 yrs with Dallas, Tx Fire Dept.
