Yeah, it’s only 25 degrees here. Nice and crisp out. It’s been a while since I added the top hook extension. I guess I made lots of spaced out attachment holes, to more fine adjustment of the hook. Didn’t need a third bolt, but my motto is “Over Kill is Under Rated”

I made the modification (see image) and I also ordered a new upper hook that sticks out about 1/2" or so, which will do the trick. Thanks for your help and suggestions, very much appreciated.

Interesting, feel free to include your fix to this post. LP blade # and a wider image also appreciated.

So the hook wasn’t clearing the back wall of the implement? I thought the problem was where the hook bolts up.. QH bumping into implement. I have one coming for Xmas so I’m trying to get it all figured out.. and I do have the Land Pride rear blade that might have the holes set back too far, not sure yet.

Hi Krush... no, the problem was that the hook was not clearing the back wall of the implement, so I got out this am and cut it so it would clear... that worked, but the upper hook is still too far back, so the new hook should remedy that... won't be here until after the Holidays, so I have to plow my driveway (250 ft gravel/dirt on a fairly steep hill) as it is... I called Harbor Freight and spoke to one of the tech guys and he thought as long as the lower hooks are in and the latch handles keep them in, I should be OK until the larger upper hook is installed.

I believe the HF hitch is similar if not the same as the Northern Tool QH that I have. I had to hit the top hook with a grinder for a bit to open the hook up enough to let my LP BB1260 seat right. The top hooks are known to be a little too tight........ not sure if you encountered that but I figured I would throw it out there.......as others will hit this thread using "search" and the more solution options the merrie

Does anyone here know the exact size or what best works with the HF QH top hook.. bushing wise? I was at TSC and picked up two bushings, one slides into the other if needed. I got both because I wasn’t sure.. The large one is a little too big and the other which is 1 1/8” OD is a little lose but as far as I know it may be as good as it gets. I’m not sure if they have a 1 1/4” OD that fits.. I can always shave a little off the hook inside if I need to for the larger one to fit.

I chose to shave a little off the inside of the hook. It did not take too much work with a file. That worked very well for me.

I think that’s what I’ll be doing, I might even go at it with my lathe.. if I think it will leave enough meat on it to still be secure. Thank you sir!

As I mentioned earlier in the thread.....hit the hook with the grinder and open it up, there will be plenty of steel left for strength......
