Sure sounds like you were improperly using the floor jack, as you said 'it rolled a bit', thereby causing the axle stand to tip over.
As for why Americans buy Chinese. It's because you want the products to be affordable. Hopefully along with HF products, you'll give up all APPLE products, TVs and other electronics, especially all vehicle 'infotainment centers'.

Harbor Freight has some pretty decent quality stuff and some crap, you can generally tell them apart pretty readily just handling the displays in the store. I have a set of HF stands fro quite a while ago as well as another brand of pretty much the same and have not had an issue with either set.

I have found that given the not level dirt I usually have to work on I don't use the stands that often and when I need that support I more often use cribbing. I have a fairly large selection of 30" long cribbing pieces in 4x6, 4x4 and 2x4 that work quite well, always in a proper setup, not just a single tippy stack.

To folks who refuse to buy Chinese products, I say hogwash.
Nearly everything we buy has some Chinese connection/content, though we often do not realize.
Maybe not.....eggs,.....though some chicken food or flock medication might be made in China too,?

Doesn’t mean you have to like it. Sadly there’s no other option sometimes.

That is exactly my point!
Some here on OTT, say that they refuse to buy anything made in China.
We can all agree, but many items we buy, have Chinese content that we are not even aware of.

You guys call Harbor Freight junk. I think you would be surprised who make Harbor Freight tools. While you are at it check out who make Dewalt, and Milwaukee.

Harbor Freight tools are American made, not China. But look who makes Dewalt, and Milwaukee....
