Iā€™m far from an expert.

Iā€™ve seen several occasions lately where Amazon is not the best price for several products.

Selling on the big "A" is not cheap, and "free" shipping isn't free. Many smaller company's that sell there charge more to cover those fees because the perception of the consumer is that if it's on Amazon or eBay its automatically a good deal, plus they like the one-click to buy convenience.

Always Google the part number or model number before making a purchase, you will frequently find much better prices than what is on the jungle site.

RCW, I think you missed my point.
It's cheaper on Amazon that it is at Harbor Freight!

$100??? Who do they think they are, Snap-On?
I hear Ya, But find an equivalent pry bar for less? With this day and age. Itā€™s not a horrible price. With a warranty. Thatā€™s worth something itself.

So itā€™s $10 less online, says nothing about lifetime warranty, and if for say it breaks or bends, where do you return it to? Not sure where you live, but i live Within reason to 4 harbor freights, Iā€™ll pay the $10 more from the store and support a local establishment.

Why would anyone pay 100 bucks for a pry bar?

I share Skeets' point of view. It's a freakin' piece of steel with a handle. Not exactly rocket science. I'd be surprised if production costs come to $15 each.

Well thatā€™s where youā€™re wrong. Itā€™s not just a ā€œpiece of steelā€ if it was it would bend when you try to use it. Iā€™m not saying the 100$ price tag is justified. But itā€™s more than just a piece of steel. šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø

Haha......No, but you know they want to be. They're so jealous of all those poor techs they're keepin bent over.

Why would you pay that ridiculous amount at Harbor Freight when you can buy them from the manufacturer for less.
I totally agree. 24 years as a tech has me completely over these tool companies and their prices. Although I do point our younger techs/apprentices towards the harbor freight direction rather than most tool trucks, you definitely gotta be careful and do alittle research.

I do however like these manufactures stepping it up a bit to provide these other options. And most are doing a decent job at it.

I put the Pittsburg prof/Icon series ratchets through the pepsi challenge a couple of years ago. I could generally get a year or so out of them before problems.

But the bottom line is that oh so precious money.

$20 HF on the left, $135 snappy on the right

$40 deep and shallow pittsburg 1/2 impact on top
$800+ deep and shallow snappy 1/2 impact on bottom

I have been reemed deeper than you could imagine over the years lol. Most my own fault though

Not to be the wise ass (yes I know that doesnā€™t mean itā€™s not the case)ā€¦but if you canā€™t borrow from dad or grandpa, then find a garage sale, no?

If you stand to inherit some tools I think dad and grandpa might have something or even multipleā€¦. or someone close has some they will almost give way.

Beyond that Iā€™m all for brick and mortar and support neighbors working there. (But check family and neighbors first is my thought) šŸ˜‰ for 100 bucks for a pry barā€¦well it better be dipped in gold or come with something I canā€™t tell the spousal unit about. Id definitely be clipping the HF coupons on that one. Just saying.

so the HF icon 5' bar is 1/2 of the Snap-On (more or less), yeesh WHO in their right minds would pay $165 for a PRY BAR ???
I've got 3 or 4 here, 'somewhere', never paid more than $10 for ALL of them. Found in dumpsters, yardsales or estate sales.
I was gifted a few sets of Craftsman,Snap-On and other socket sets... donated them to the local high school as I don't use 1/2" stuff these days.
