I'm within a couple of months of retiring, after a life long career, raised a family and now it's my turn to treat myself, what special gift did you get?

My wife wanted a nice car for weddings and funerals. Paid it off in six months. That was the only major purchase.
My only plan for retirement was to not work other than a short wind down stint in a box store.
Between covid and raising a teenager we have not wanted or been able to travel much.
We did all the capital improvements on the house prior to retirement and own it out right. We have always had a quite lifestyle and do not require a lot of cash to maintain that style. We are debt free and just take each day as it comes.
Income is about 30% greater than the average for this county so we live nicely. A couple of counties south of here and we would be hard pressed to hit the middle.

My only real requirement is that I do not get grief for cigars and day drinking in the middle of the week.

I had the same plan as Tughill Tom, with the same result.
So instead I spent several hours at The Tilted Kilt, watching the girls & getting mildly potted.
Then I got to spend several more hours getting sober so I could drive home.
All in all, a pretty relaxing day. :)

56 acres of overgrown ex Christmas tree plantation with great habitat restoration potential! And all the continuing expenses, equipment, labor that goes along with it! :ROFLMAO: yikes!

Congrats on your upcoming retirement! (y)

Nothing physical. I made sure I had all the "toys" before I retired.

I love to be outside on a beautiful day. All my working years when an absolutely gorgeous day would happen and I had to be at work I would bemoan the fact that I was inside instead of out there somewhere in the great outdoors. So now that I'm retired - if the weather is lousy I'm indoors working on projects. If it is gorgeous out there I'm out there enjoying it.

My wife gave me a Weimeraner for retirement. That was over 20 years ago, and unfortunately, dogs don't live that long. I sure do miss the dog, and when she passed we were down to 1 dog. About 2 1/2 years ago, that one passed, and now there are none. They both preferred our bed to their beds.

We bought a house in WV on 5 acres, my wife insisted I retire when we moved, and buy a tractor. I think I'll keep her! Congrats on your upcoming retirement, enjoy!!

Careful of what you wish for. Brother-in-law got a young blonde just before he retired. She must have worn a French Maid Outfit as she took him to the cleaners. Cleaned out the bank just to add insult to injury.
He is now retired but has a mortgage that was required to pay off the blonde.

I'm stockpiling toys NOW while I can work some OT to pay for them and enjoy them while I'm still physically able. I buried my brother a year ago due to a life cut short by ALS. Less than 2 years from diagnosis to crossing over the Jordan. I'm going to enjoy the good life right now.

That is called over reaching. My plan is to die after being shot in the act by a cuckolded 25 year old husband. Still looking for a willing woman....

Dan
That cuck hubby will most likely be a milquetoast castrated anti-gun passivist whose pronouns are they/them. I think you'll survive. They'd be on the floor in the fetal position sucking their thumb.

Not for myself…but for my single cousin….he got an entire weekend with a Swedish-masseuse….(gifted by my evil brother and the rest of us married cousins.) 🤑
