I have adjusted both styles (wall mount and belt drive) of door openers to make the bottom of the door even with the opening. As long as there is enough rail to accommodate the door.
One note about the ceiling hung opener- the bracket that attaches the trolley to the door hangs lower than the door. So if you go with an opener, get the wall mount.
When my doors are open the bracket that connects the trolley to the door is above the opening, so I guess not all do?

My tractor shed has a manual overhead door. It was easy to adjust the spring just a little bit.
Guess I should have been more detailed. My door is manual and the springs are long stretchy coils that run parallel with the upper rails. When the door was raised the springs were limp before the door was raised enough to expose the whole door opening. Simply adjusting the springs a very small amount provided an extra 2 or 3 inches of clearance.

Mine was not a case that involved the potential of "serious death or injury" as one of our kids once said.

It looks like you don't have a garage door opener installed to pull the door further open.

You could make a simple prop out of a 2x4. Set the top in place then slide the bottom over to push up on the door.
The timing of this thread is interesting. I spent an hour or so yesterday messing with my garage door opener and header height so that I could park the new to me F-450 in the garage and out of the sun. I have one of those Chamberlain Quiet belt drive garage door opener models that I installed about 10 years ago.

It's easy to set the open and closed positions, so after getting the door to open such that the bottom of the door was above the header, I simply removed a 2x10 that I had installed when I had the garage door replaced and now I'm able to get the truck in (minus the antenna). Ford says that the truck is 82.1" tall but I have about 1-1/2" of clearance between the top of the plastic markers and the underside of the header which isn't 82" from the ground. A salesman told me that those plastic "blobs" are to indicate the safe height if you're loading stuff over the cab, on a ladder rack I'd assume, but who knows if that's their actual purpose.

Problem solved. I ended up installing a garage door opener. Now it pulls the door all the way up. Expensive solution but it has the added benefit of being remote controlled now. No need to get off the tractor after pulling out of the garage.

Am I the only one with a garage door remote on his tractor? :)
