Yes, it will until the battery is fully discharged, which is about 15 minutes.

OK, Hamilton Mayor want LRT (electric train) for downtown core, over 1 billion bux(taxpayer money so it's 'free'....but...we could spend 250 million, get 250 battery buses and spend the rest on other stuff. Buses can go anywhere,even up the mountain and ZERO spent on new railroad even the Mayor LIKED the Ebuses but LRT is the only way for him......

Free .....is never free. Politicians never put up thier own money. Actually, the occupation of politician is always to spend everyone's elses money. What a gig.....ohhh and the campaign contibutions from people who will get rich of the electric push. When i hear stop making oil manufacturers rich go electric i laugh.
So the battery guys.....EV guys are donating everything? The more taxes needed are free ? Know why it taxes ? Government does nothing to earn money. They just spend. From local guys on up. Wich is fine if they really would represent everyones/ majorities wishes. Your Mayor sounds typical.

I have the solar and at .16 a kwh it will pay off in less than 10 years wish I had the foresight to get a highbred vehicle.The USPS is currently ordering a ton of the next gen postal vans. However despite the inspector generals report that the EV version of the van has a much lower life cycle cost even factoring in a battery replacement at 10 years. The Postmaster general is resisting getting them.
On a real world side note I have a 2017 Chevrolet Volt (technically an extended range electric car since it has a gas motor to work as a genset). I buy gas pretty much only when I go to the race tracks to run the iTiming & Scoring in May to August. I would have to look at the spreadsheet but last year (2021) it was less than 40 gallons of gas for the year. The electricity costs me the equivalent of $1.25 a gallon if it were gas.
You all can gripe and piss and moan about gas prices I'll just keep driving and putting the money I save in the bank.
Oh an on the issue of electric cars cost too much I bought mine as a used demo with 3,700 miles on it and got for $25k after the factory rebate (and before my GM card earnings and the Federal tax credit).
Yes I can't tow the tractor or the race car with it but it's my daily driver. It lets me leave the F350 in the barn for when I need it and leaves me with money to play with my toys rather than sending my money to the oil companies.
Last point... With an electric car you can put up a windmill charger or a solar array to generate your own electricity. Even if i had my own oil well I would not have the facility to refine the oil to gas or diesel.
Yes it would cost to put up a solar array but they pay for themselves over 10 years +- Faster if you you use your tractor to install a array longer if you just write a check
If i may ask, how much did your solar system cost you to setup and hook your home to ?

Lol.....i looked at a system for my Barn to not add to electric panel. 35k was the estimate.
I have electric to it on the grid. A lot of electric bills in that amount of money.
So i. Wondering
The system is 8.9kw my cost was 16,900.00 rebate was 8900. we have 28 LG panels and enphase controller grid tied. saves about 1700 a year in power at the current rate of .16 kwh that has just increase from .156 last year. if the rates continue to go up the savings will also go up. I have not seen a diminished output yet this is the third year with very close to the same output. Our best days are over 60 and our best months are around 1500. the system has been set and forget. I had to reset the system once in the three years we have had it. the enlighten software lets you monitor the panels I did monitor it a lot the first year but now I probably look a couple times a month. the system will send an e mail if it is down and not putting out any power even in one panel. Drawbacks --are any snow on a panel and you lose the whole panel. winter does not generate much power. no power during outages we have been without power for a week at a time a couple of time and the panels are generating power but I cannot get to it. At the mercy of ns power for rule changes but do have a contract and even when they threatened to charge for use of the grid we would have been grandfathered.
I wish I would have bought a hybrid and been able to hook up my panels to the car during outages.
greenvillejay - when we lived in Ontario they had a large rebate on the rate if I remember correctly around 2010 there were people putting in systems and selling power back to hydro. they were paying more for the power then they were charging for power.
That is great price. I just noticed your location. I had a quote for bigger system.
I wanted 220 for welders and other equipment though.

I didn't read every last word in the MoneySmartGuides,com so maybe I missed the figure for lost investment opportunity on the additional cost of a hybrid. In other words, 5,000 bucks may very well be 10,000 at the end of ten years. Did I miss that fact?
Prius battery from an acident cost a co worker 10 grand. I knew that link would make people laugh.
We have several 220v out lets and appliances my wood shop has mostly 220v tools. we also have 200 amp service. the way I look at it electric prices are going nowhere but up and this helps me buffer the impact. Is it a great investment, probably not, about 7% at best but on a fixed income return of investment is more important than return on investment. Being able to control at least a potion of my future energy bill was important to me and at the time the banks were paying 0 interest so the investment made sense.
Inflation...i was quoted last fall. Maybe Canada has better sitiation too. I understand
i still think its futile at this point on the cars though. I also marvel at the fact here in the us 3 years ago we were exporting oul. Prices down on barrels of oil. Also since 1997 there have been Hybrids so ovetall oil consumption has been falling. So why are we being hijacked at the pump. The bullying in to instead of the current 33 percent of cars are hybrids or electric they are punishing evryone else till they cave in is wrong. The marketplace indicates 7 of 10 prefer oil. Then where is the supposed impact we were told in 97 with the Prius saving oil driving prices down ? Its all horsecrap.
Instead of oil tycoons only you will add the guys getting rich of of this in the mix.
I guess if you run for office on special interest money then you are going to hold up your promise to them.

well they're BOTH ruining our countries , so not that much different !! sad really.
at least south of the 49th , your gas/diesel is waaaay cheaper AND you get credits for 'off oil' stuff.
The taxes at the pumps are so obscene, the legal postings of them ON the pumps , is longer enforced.
