Fuel Filter

My Kubota RTV 400 has blown out two fuel filters in less than a week. The second one was a lot bigger than the original. Any ideas on what could be causing this? They have both blown after a cold start.

I assume these are the plastic in line filters that have blown.

I assume there is an electrical lift pump that may be producing too much pressure. That could be from some upstream restriction to flow or the pump may be defective.

I would remove the fuel lines from the engine end and see if there is good flow out of the hose. Place end of hose in clean bucket to catch anything that comes out of the hose to see if there is debris. Or just replace the hoses and pump?

Thank you. I will try that.

The RTV400 does not have an inline fuel filter, they have a sock filter in the fuel tank.

I'm confused, this is what I found when I looked it up.
Messick's sells them HERE

That's a carbon canister for fumes/vapors.

There's no inline filter for the fuel supply between the pump and throttle body.

To the OP- you should rephrase your issue to "I have blown out two carbon canister filters".

Is your engine backfiring? Is the fresh air filter on top of the canister clogged?

Clearly the OP's RTV is trying to tell him that it doesn't need or want that piece of junk. 😂

#1- that's not OEM, someone added it
#2- that filter is not for higher pressurized fuel lines. It's a small engine fuel filter- lawn mowers, snow blowers, etc...

If you want an inline fuel filter, it has to be rated for fuel injection pressure- 30-40 psi.
That was an interesting result on this problem.

How much pressure does that pump produce?

And is the injector part of a throttle body? I didn’t locate any injector but the illustrated parts lists have fuel parts scattered in several different areas so I may have missed something.

Not sure about that engine, but many (most?) modern automotive engines run between 45 and 70 psi.
No wonder the little fuel filters kept bursting!

This video shows the pressure and the fuel injector.

Looks like the fuel injector cannot be purchased by itself.
