I’d like to remind those who “jumped” me that I did NOT believe the lubricity arguments are helped by 2-stroke oil..and I actually advised AGAINST falling for the fear-mongering. (I wrote: “Some folks worry about lubricity in older diesels operating on ULSD (Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel) which is all you can buy these days. Don’t sweat it and ignore all the “sky is falling” fear-mongers is my opinion…but if you succumb to the fear mongering…. pour a little 2-stroke oil into your fuel..”)

My advice was actually “Don’t sweat it and ignore (the lubricity-fears)… and then I suggested what SOME other forums participants do…which was to add 2-stroke oil to their diesel. I do not do that and again, did not recommend it on my own beliefs…
I probably should not have mentioned what others do… but I don’t believe it hurts…or helps.

Clean, Fresh diesel is the proper stuff.

Keep explaining this further. That is a very deep rabbit hole that you are digging yourself into. I just read where you posted that you were moderated. Take a deep breath and let your fingers rest for a while. Have a cold beer or something else that you might prefer.

@Evil: That’s what I thought. You haven’t got anything but more fake and backpedal.

What I stand by what I wrote earlier.
Please enlighten me since you are so sure.
Edit- never mind. You would have already if you could. Keep spouting the BS. It amuses me.

I guess that Georges's moderation without consequences gives him a pass to continue to spew BS

Well, he didn't blame conservatives for the "fake news" about additives. So....
😆
I just hate to see folks new to diesels led in the wrong direction.

I do not intend to get into an argument with any specific person but the statement made in post #8 about alcohol increasing cetane in diesel fuel is false. Alcohol actually decreases cetane in diesel fuel. See the attached link.

Power Service in the white bottle for winter and the silver bottle for summer is what I use. I jhave fount it to perform very well.
I (emphasis on ”I”) never claimed alcohol increases cetane. I cast dispersion on cetane/octane “improvers” because of those that contain alcohol. Alcohol does not belong in fuel except as an anti-icing agent in certain special circumstances…not diesel tractors however.

Evil and Dusty seem to have a penchant to attack a person rather than intelligently discuss the issue. I thought I could de-activate the “ignore” feature but perhaps I should reinstate it.

To quote your post #8, "Cetane improvers…. skip ‘em.… they are snake oil…usually alcohol".

If that is not saying alcohol is a cetane improver why did you say it that way? Anyone reading that would probably agree that you are saying that cetane improvers contain alcohol. They absolutely do not contain alcohol. Alcohol is an octane improver. Adding octane to diesel fuel reduces cetane. Look it up and learn something.

Putting the word “improvers” in quotes means it to be a wild claim…made by the snake-oil salesman…not me. (However, I may have transferred octane improver claims to cetane improvers…they are all snake oil, IMO.)

As I said earlier, I do not wish to get into an argument with you but you made a mistake and now you should just admit it and move on. Don't dig the hole any deeper.

Central Louisiana here… I just use the fuel from the station…
Gulf coast Texas here.....and same. I will toss in some Opti-Lube for the times when my tractor spends several months outdoors at the deer lease, especially if it is a wet season.

Outside of that...just run the hell out of it, change the oil and filters and generally take care of it and no issues.

Add coconut oil to your fuel for a fun, Caribbean-themed exhaust aroma.

No impact on cetane.

May cause diarrhea.

I did not know Geohorn's name in real life and have to say that is a new one on me. Never heard it before. Georges...interesting name. Might be one in a million for all I know...
