Front Axle Seals

New Member and Owner here:

I was lucky enough to talk the owners of the house i bought to throw in the 2003 B7500. I dont know how well this thing was kept up with but it looks good for a 2003.

I was moving a little dirt today and noticed that there was some fluid coming from the hubs. Im assuming its the outer axle seals. Job doesn't look to be too bad but this is my first Kubota and diesel. I have experience working on cars and small engines but no experience with these things.

Should I do the outer seals too? Anything to watch out for? Any other things tend to wear out on these things?

I would start with a work shop manual. I just checked and they are $29. It is a pdf file. Well worth the money. Just google Kubota B7500 WSM

Look at the front axle sections for parts.

I did all the front seals on my L35 which is quite similar to your B7500. Wheels, steering hubs, etc.
Plan ahead with lots of time and plenty of cardboard on the floor!
It's a lot of work getting the old seals out - but not impossible.
It's heavy! I removed the axle from the tractor to perform all the work.
Use of 80-90 Gear oil or UDT will work for a refill.

My tractor does that in hot weather because the front axle filler plug does not breathe. I made a vent hole in it and the leaking stopped.

It was hotter than normal yesterday. Did you just drill out the plug and use a relief valve or run a tube up into the motor area?

Do yourself a huge favor and replace the failed oil seals. Adding an unneeded vent is just putting scotch tape on a broken leg.

I'm handy with a wrench, but not a mechanic by any means and I replaced both of mine without too much trouble, get a really good set of snap wring pliers. There are plenty of good resources on youtube. I did vent the filler plug as well.

Pay extra attention when you get everything apart. What I would call the spindle, piece that has the ~90° bend, can crack.
