Is this to mean if your battery dies, you may "fry" the electronics ECU or?

No.... the most common cause. Someone disconnecting the battery terminal to "See" if the alternator is still working. When simply putting a meter to the battery and checking to see if your getting 14volts would suffice.

Did Kubota ever ”warranty” the ECU for HenryD…??

HenryD…if you are still around….. An MX5800 is NOT an “M” Kubota. It’s an “MX” Kubota.

I’m glad my ‘96 M-Kubota is a simple, old-tech diesel and the only thing the battery/alternator does is run lights, glow-plugs, and a starter motor.… no “ECU” for me!

'unexpected expenses'? Yeesh, did Ford figure it was just a frame and cab? NO crane,or rollback or ?? on it ???
8K to remove/install seems high as that'd be 80 hrs@ $100 per. That's 2 guys, full time for a week ??
Just curious as to what was on the truck frame ?

Truck has a crane, pto driven (hydraulic powered) welder/ generator/ compressor, all the electronics and relays.

Talked to the service manager, some of the trucks they repaired were 12,000 plus to get the beds removed. Those were usually tow trucks, roll backs, etc......
