Hi, today I connected up the Suton Poo picker / sweeper and then cut the new 1200mm PTO down to 520mm, it was the only one they sold at the dealers. After an hours use behind my B6000 the chain on the sweeper broke and the engine stalled after the PTO jammed. I Stripped the sweeper and found one chain, which had broken. This sweeper has a double cog at the top, sorry it was late and didn't have time to strip further but my brother, who owns the machine tells me there has only ever been one chain. Does anyone have knowledge of this product or any information. I will try the manufacturer in the morning but just thought someone may know this equipment. I cannot believe that someone would build an implement and put two cogs on and not two chains, it wouldn't make economic sense. Look forward to any thoughts, Thanks Bernie

Maybe it had one double-row chain in the past, and someone replaced that with a single row chain.

LF is right, again....
it was made WITH a 'double roller' chain... and someone tossed on a single ( far less cost....)

You need the double for POWER.....

good news is you have a 'sample' to get a proper double made up.

I doubt that 2 singles could be installed, spacing issue ??

Look on the side of the chain for a number.
Here are 2 examples of possible chains.

Poo picker LOL. Do you call your hand the ass scratcher?;)
If you had your head out of your A** you might see that he is from the other side of the pond and maybe that’s what it is called there. Stop belittling someone asking for help and provide them with constructive help.

Not belittling - I had a good chuckle about poo picker! Ass scratcher is pretty funny too!

It is actually called an Amenity sweeper but as we use it regularly to collect the Horse shit off the paddocks poo picker was easier and it describes exactly what it does, picks up the poo. Sorry you don't admire our euphemisms, horse shit collector just doesn't flow.

I stripped the POO Picker down this morning and found only one cog on the other end. Apparently there was another device that can be run off the other cog at the top. I went to the manufacturer and had a discussion with them and bought three more links, just incase. Thanks for all your input again, much appreciated. What I find so brilliant about this forum is that whilst I am trying to work out how to solve a challenge the input from others, who possibly have already come across the problem I am trying to resolve or have some knowledge that they are willing to share greatly helps. Thank again Bernie

Oh we (at least myself) admire the name. Alliteration is always a good thing, and usually quite funny the first time you hear it!

Road apples reminds me of a story my mother, now 95 tells, about her father in the 1930's - 40's rushing out into the street when the horses of the carriages they were pulling would defecate, opps sorry shit in the street. Apparently there was quite a rush of the neighbourhood to collect it for their roses. Oh the British and their gardens.

'stable sweepings' is another term... The 'stuff' I get is a mix of 'pony poop', straw and pine shavings...makes a GREAT compost 'base' !!

Now I'm curious as to what the 'other device' is that the 'extra' big sprocket is for....

I think the extra sprocket is to run a hydraulic drive that then runs a brush sweeper on the side, though thinking about it why wouldn't one just run it off the tractor hydraulics. Take a look at the Amenity sweeper on this website file:///C:/Users/berna/Downloads/5011-2.pdf It is from 2017 but gives a good picture of the side sweeper. The manufactureres website gives very little information so sorry this is the best I can find.
