First Kubota for big guy!

Need some advice.

We have 20 acres, 15 of which I’ll be using this tractor to pull logs from, brush hog, and move overburden from a pond we’ll eventually construct. I’ll be brush-hogging, regrading driveway, and loader work.

I am 6’ 6” 340lbs, with big feet to boot so fitting on the tractor is a huge consideration.

Originally I looked at the L3560HST-LE, but the seat simply can’t go far enough back, due to running into part of the frame. I liked the idea of a cab, but it’s not looking like that’s in the cards.

Surprisingly the L2501 offers more leg room. However, I feel it’s likely underpowered for what I intend to use it for.

Leaning towards the L4701HST, 4wd, ROPS.

Budget is out the door of 35k or less

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

First thing that came to my mind is if your local dealer/shop can get creative and modify the seat/area to provide you more room......without voiding any warranty of course. You can't obviously be the only 6-6, 330 guy that owns a tractor.

Compact tractors are not designed for guys your size.

The L4701 might be a decent fit for your job requirements but its still an 01.

Have you tried on an M series? Lot more tractor than an 01.

Look at the MX5400. I bought a L2501, but from what I understand the MX is just slightly more than an L4701 and quite a bit larger.

That's odd. I just tried an L2501 at my dealer and wife and I both commented it doesn't have nearly the leg and foot room our B2620 has.

Look at the MX5400. I bought a L2501, but from what I understand the MX is just slightly more than an L4701 and quite a bit larger.

I just bought a MX6000 and with the seat jacked all the way back, I can barely reach the steering wheel. I’m 5’10”. I keep the seat adjustment about halfway. Plenty of room in the operator’s station.

I’d second the MX5400, if you are dragging out trees it has a lot of capability and it will run a 6’ heavy duty brush cutter really well. I see a grapple in your future, they are so useful with tree work.

I have a L4701 and it’s a very good fit for my situation but I agree with others if you’re looking at a L4701, I’d take a hard look at the MX5400 as well.

I'm 6'3 and 340 and I'm am quite comfortable on my BX 2680

Yeah - - orangekrusher and I fit on a BX, but it's always tough to get comfortable when you're large.

Kinda like a motorcycle. With a 36" inseam, had few I was comfortable on for more than an hour. Legs just too darned long and I'd cramp up after a while.

Had a buddy that bought a Ford Model A pickup. It was a challenge to get his belly into the driver's seat.

Like others said, maybe just try several models to see if one fits better than the others.

Since that picture was taken I have lost 93 lbs. and fit better than ever on my BX not to mention feeling a whole lot better in the process.

I appreciate all the advice. Planning to look at both the L4701HST and the MX5400HST.

To the comment about the “grapple.” YES, the thought had likewise crossed my mind as well. Although I didn’t see one offered by LandPride, only Atlas.

For either of these larger machines, are front facing lights only mountable on the ROPS, or a canopy on the ROPS?

Are there limits to lighting you can put on these tractors? Or is simply about having enough supplemental batteries for the extra lights? Not looking to overtax the tractor’s electrical system, but if the Kubota light kids are anything like those for riding lawn mowers, I fear they will be lacking the brightness I need to work.
