Hello folks,
New user here. I recently purchased a B2910 with around 1000 hours on the clock. It has been impeccably maintained and kept indoors most of its life except for when in use, obviously. I picked it up as I recently moved to a place with some acreage with logging roads, etc.. I have been using this tractor to pull downed trees around to get them to an area where I can cut and process the wood more easily. I was wondering if any of you have found a decent cart to haul firewood around? I am not thinking anything too large as the road to get up and down to the bottoms is really pretty steep and trying to pull more than 1000 pounds up that grade would probably not do too well. I have found several at places like tractor supply, rural king, etc, that would technically fit the bill, but there's one singular hangup. The drawbar on the tractor often exceeds the thickness allowed on the cart itself. I suppose I could modify the cart to work, but it would be cool to know what some of you have been using for this very task. A 17 cu ft unit would probably be about the size I would want to yank up the hill. Properly stacked you could fit a fair amount of firewood per load in something like that. Anyway, any information would be useful.

Cheers

Jesse

I just use a small trailer with a 1-7/8" ball hitch.

It holds up well for small loads of firewood and other small projects around the property.

I can pull it behind my tractor, zero turn mower....or vehicle.

I've used 'mini' farm wagons in the past. Basic wheels/frame for $200, you have to add the wood for floor... Adjustable in length, I like about 8' long, can carry two IBC totes on them, and already setup for 'wagon train' mode...I've pulled 3 of them at a time. I prefer wagons (4 wheels) as you can 'drop and go' ,no balance problems
Lots of guys use empty IBC tote 'frames' for cut firewood storage around here,2 per miniwagon.

If you have a FEL these IBC totes are cheap and work great for me.

New here and don't yet have an Orange Tractor, but I pull my small utility trailer with my garden tractor. The trailer has taken a beating as a tree fell on it after a storm last year and I have yet to "fix" it. LOL

I use an old Penn Dot trailer with a steel diamond plate floor, strong holds quite a load, I use the manual winch to pull logs out in tight rocky spots and load it on the trailer. Best part is I bought it for $50. Steel on it and the axle are well worth that.

I think the hoist that arml has would be a helpful addition….that being said these pics aren’t the best but I use a homemade unit behind my atv and the B. The Axle is from a jet ski trailer and the wheels are atv. If planning to design ine, IMO key points are proper tongue height (especially for an atv with a fixed hitch height) and a longer tongue than you think to help when backing. There are some rollers on the sides so as not to get hung up on a tree…it sort of rolls and allows trailer to shift itself over…very helpful. Depending on your woods and how you drive fenders will fold/crumple easily. 🥃

I use the totes and that’s the best solution I have found for stacking and moving wood. However, loaded, the weigh about 1200-1500 pound.

Don’t know if you use the plastic tanks or not, but I cut them and use them for covers to keep the wood dry.

Could build one similar to flints with something like this? I’ve been considering the 4x8 one they have to build a trailer for the tractor.

By the time you put the weight of decking and sides on it, that maybe becomes an 800 lb. capacity trailer?

Get a small trailer that you like and bolt a ball hitch on it.

Yep. If your FEL won't lift them, your 3PH might. But a steep hill might be a show stopper.

It sure works well for me, though. Wood gets tossed in right from the splitter. Tractor moves it to storage area. When it's needed, tractor moves it up by the house for use. Empties go back near the splitter.

And the bottles (the plastic part) make a great roof. No tarping.

Don't forget the carry.all, small compact and you can customize any way you like. I can carry my saw, fuel, oil and a small tool box.

^^^^^

I was looking for the 'Small/Compact' part?

You have a good start on Noah's Ark there. ;)

Nice craftsmanship though.

hmm re-read your post...
Wood it be better(easier and faster ) to haul the logs closer to the house and THEN process into firewood ? It's a LOT of work to cut and split and haul and stack........
