Busy yard work day today. Picked up 3 yards of garden mix and 1 yard of mushroom manure. Used the little T to haul the dirt and manure around. Topped up the wife's raised beds, built her 2 new 4x8 beds for rhubarb, topped up the beds in the greenhouse and behind the house, planted 2 apple and 2 cherry trees and still had the energy to clean up my hunting/fishing mobile.
May be a little stiff in the morning but will need to clean the other truck after hauling manure!

Interesting piece on US Farm Report on RFDTV this morning.

Talked about how dangerous wild pigs can be. Quite a few fatalities in India and China, but still a few in the US.

Didn’t catch all the statistics, but typical incidents were with agricultural workers, not a hunting scenario.

Wild hogs will occasionally charge at you, especially if a sow just had a litter or a boar wants to contest his territory, or walking up on a sounder that's been bedded down.

Wow -

We had a few wild hogs get away from a hunting preserve nearby 15 years ago.

Even in upstate New York, they sustained themselves. Were around for several years, and growing.

Our department of environmental conservation had bulletins out recommending all be killed on sight. I think it was successful, but I recall a deer hunter getting a 350 (+?) pound boar during deer season.

Do you care to state what caliber you carry? Just curious.
I do as well, on my property, but nothing more than armadillos, or an occasional Prairie rattler for me to deal with. Ok, maybe a coyote too. I usually have a Ruger SP101 (.22LR) on my hip or in my tractor holster.

XD 9, mixed loads of fmj & hollows.
I have more dumped/wild dog/coyote encounters than hogs.

In the last 5 days we've received over 5" here at the house, but amounts vary. Thirty miles to the south near Mound City they received 8 1/2" Many roads closed today. We were quite a ways behind with water levels a concern.

Maybe Trapper Bob will tell how much he received in the Wichita area. The storm we received came from his direction.

I’ll check my farm today. I dumped .45” out of my rain gauge Friday. Neighbors say 5”+ over Saturday & Sunday. Everyone has a rain gauge that tops out at 5”.

USDA's data is 40days behind, and it says were not in a drought, which is utter BS. A trace or spit of rain last night, that's all. Cows have less than 2 weeks of forage left. I'm not feeding cows hay for 3rd summer again.

The S tail of the storms moving thru our area have just been N of Corpus Christi. (Knowing your situation, I look). That tail had to be close enough to see or smell the rain. It sucks that “Mother Nature” will not even it out. I didn’t need or want over 6” of rain in 1 night. I would gladly send some your way.
If you sell your cows, who gonna mow the grass?
