I once had a package that was checked in at FedEx in Middletown but suffered the fate mentioned in the ol' Eagles song:

"Relax, " said the night man, "We are programmed to receive
You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave"

Took a while, but the second shipment did make it to me. The first one could still be hiding in the bowels of the building or was "misappropriated" by an employee.

Had it happen twice with FedEx. Both times it steadily moved toward me. Made it to their sort facility 8 miles from my house. Sat there for a couple days. Then started moving away. From that experience I learned, in FedEx world, if it makes it to Chicago that means it’s lost forever.

I get a few orders from Princess Auto, Hamilton cause for $10 , it saves me 2 hrs on the very busy highways.
the 'route' is
pickup from Hamilton, then --> Stoney Creek--> Hamilton Airport--> Toronto-->Burlington--> finally me !!
Don't understand WHY it isn't cheaper, easier, faster for delivery of stuff picked up in Hamilton ,sorted locally, then delivered in Hamilton ?

When I saw the topic I was going to say ,"After you get married that kinda stops." I see it is now about a package, and that happens all the time.

LOL... I was thinking the same thing. When young I was often waiting for something I really needed! Actually rather than waiting, I took an active approach...

Got lucky often (almost) enough though... :ROFLMAO:

Almost...yea right...perhaps occasionally is more accurate...

I placed an order on Amazon for several items. Impatiently waiting days later, I got a UPS text notification stating it was delivered. I looked inside and all around our drive gate, and nothing. Then I got notification by email for the same delivery. The email had an image of the package, inside the gate. Not our gate, but our neighbors. I went and reached over their gate and snatched it, as they were not home at the time.

Apparently the driver didn't know how to actually use a GPS, let alone read the address (6" numbers) on OUR fence that's worked for our deliveries over a 24 year term.

I had a critical refrigerator part coming once via Amazon.

Was to be delivered via USPS on a Saturday when I was home.

I saw the postal office gal pull up to the mailbox and she didn’t deliver it?!?!

Thankfully she caught me on her way back through an hour later….:)

I do not believe that there is an IQ test for delivery drivers.;)

I had a small part for the dishwasher shipped by FedEx smart ship.

It departed Ohio, the slowly progressed to Jackson Mississippi.

Then it took a vacation to Tampa FL 🙄🙄🙄

Spent a week living it up in Tampa.

Worked it's way back to jackson Mississippi. Then finally to Little Rock, then the local mail office and to my doorstep.

By this point we had gotten thoroughly frustrated and purchased a new dishwasher 🙄🙄🙄🙄

Yep. Ordered a part for a deer feeder from a large chain store. The store nearest me (40 miles away) showed they had one. Figured it would be here in a couple of days.

Week goes by...no part. Track package and instead of shipping from the store that I ordered it from, it was sent from a warehouse in Missouri (I live in Texas). Then it went to somewhere in Nebraska. Then finally back this way. After 10 days it finally showed up.

We ordered some bees in a box last winter for spring arrival. We live in Ohio and bees came from Carolina’s. Bees spent a couple weeks in Detroit after being driven thru Ohio. Here is a hint…the can of syrup they were shipped with was bone dry when we got them (normally enough for about a week). Took us three months to get our claim reimbursed with the BS from USPS. They were dead when they handed them to us and we still had to file a claim🤬. I bet if they were ballots it would have arrived here with in time for counting with or without a date.

FedEx operates the same way Amazon does, none of the delivery people work for FedEx, they are all 3rd party contractors. If you look on the side of the trucks they all will say operated by XYZ logistics, or something another.

I think what you are referring to is actually only the FedEx Ground operation.
I believe you will find that FedEx overnight delivery, is all done by mother FedEx employees.

We actually have a friend who drives a FedEx truck for overnight deliveries. He works for FedEx and is not a contractor.

you are correct. My comment was a little overarching and I should of been more specific, thanks for helping to clear it up!! :)
