He didn't answer in thirteen years, so I wouldn't hold your breath on getting an answer from him now.

Thanks I'm going to test the switch and check the wiring this week. Hopefully an easy fix!

So I pulled the seat after running the test mode on the switch and saw no voltage change when changing gears. I expected to pull switch and test with a volt meter to see if it was the switch itself or the wiring somehow.

Once I was able to see, the switch became disconnected from the lever where small diameter pin must have failed. I connected it back together and bent a finishing nail and everything works fine and the code is gone.

Cheap fix! I rarely get that lucky.
