Engine oil black during new break-in period.

Bluegill, sadly that old Ford dealer in Midway has been long gone. We've got Kubota, JD and a MF dealer over in Quincy now. Sounds like you don't like the hot, humid summers down here....me neither! :)

blank102, for the most part I've kept the rpm's under 2200. Manual says not to go full throttle for 1st 50 hrs, so I've tried to baby it.

Any of the newer engines that have an EGR valve will make the oil dirty early. Motors with a DPF will dirty the oil with fuel and carbon when they do a regen. the same thing goes on in all the newer diesel trucks.
I believe it's important to change the oil filter and engine oil as required to keep the dirty oil as clean as possible.
The color of the oil is not the issue, the size of the dirt particles is the issue, let's hope your oil filters filter fine enough to protect the engine.
