DPF Decal is confusing

So my L3302 DPF lights start flashing, ok no bid deal look at the decal on the fender for instructions and it screwed me up.

1) So if the DPF lights come press the inhibit switch and raise the RPM ? What?

Do NOT press the inhibit switch unless there’s some reason you can’t run the regen immediately. If you ever have to do that, plan on running it next time it calls for it, which is likely next time you run the machine.

To run a normal regen, when the yellow light flashes, increase RPM until it stops flashing (still on but not flashing). Maintain that RPM until dash light goes out.

That confusing stuff on the fender with the beeping is mostly stuff that happens if you don’t run the normal regen. Even more confusing, the block on line 1 to the right says “push button” (shows the inhibit button) and then clarifies “light off”. Unless you push the inhibit button, it shouldn’t be lit up. So when the light flashes to request a regen, make sure the inhibit button isn’t lit up. I’m pretty sure you’ll find its default is off and all you need to do is raise RPM until dash light stops flashing. If your inhibit button defaults to on, push it to turn it off.

On my tractor 3 lights come on and blink for a regen.
do I just raise the RPM and continue working or do I need to press the regen button on the dash.

Both time I have done a regen I did the parked regen due to
the confusing instructions on the tractor.

The decal isn't wrong ... but I agree that it can be confusing. The decal is trying to tell you to make sure that the DPF inhibit lamp is off and that your rpm is high enough so that the regen process can start.

At PM warning level 1 you should only have at most two lamps illuminated. If your engine rpm isn't high enough the n/min lamp illuminates until you raise the rpm to the required minimum.

The owner's manual lays it out quite clearly. I've never got beyond PM warning level 1 and that's with more than 400 hours with two MX6000s and an M6060.

No wonder you're cornfused !! Whoever created that label should have to pay for EVERY tractor needing a new DPF after the owner followed the instructions.

It does read as .....'do this, push button, light goes off,then raise RPMS up,until off( I assume the RPM light ?)
Sadly I understand the OTHER way it could be read, but honestly... NO label should be required, the 'computer' should do whatever is required.. it ain't 'rocket science'.

It'd be fun to have some 3 letter execs sit on the tractor and do 'as the label' says !

Kubota knows that many owners don't read the owner's manual so a cheat sheet is the next best thing. If you read the manual, the label makes a lot more sense. The label covers PM warning levels 1, 2-1, 2-2 and 3. It doesn't cover level 4 which requires dealer intervention.

The decal isn't wrong ... but I agree that it can be confusing. The decal is trying to tell you to make sure that the DPF inhibit lamp is off and that your rpm is high enough so that the regen process can start.

All three lights come on/blinking, including the parked regeneration light. Tractor has had two regen's and both
displayed exactly the same flashing three lights.

I never did see the PM1 level where two lights are illuminated
both times it included the parked regen light.

All three lights come on/blinking, including the parked regeneration light. Tractor has had two regen's and both
displayed exactly the same flashing three lights.

I never did see the PM1 level where two lights are illuminated
both times it included the parked regen light.
If you look at the owner's manual, the parked regen light comes on if you've reached PM warning level 2-2 regardless of whether the tractor is in Auto Regeneration mode or Regeneration Inhibit mode. Perhaps @whitetiger will stop by and shed some light on your situation.

Ended up getting the owners manual and doing a parked regen and everything went back to normal.

It'll be interesting to see if your next regen is a level 1 event i.e. only the regen light and rpm light illuminate. I assume that you're not turning on regen inhibit when you start your tractor each time.

That was my same experience with the same Jenglish label the first time mine needed a regen. I ended up doing a parked regen as well.

Unfortunately every manufacturer uses different pictographs and there is no standardization in Engrish.

I wouldn't have one. Simply cut some code for the computer to AUTOMATICALLY take care of the regen process as required. Something as CRITICAL as 'emissions' shouldn't be left to humans, either the ones creating the questionable label or the operators.

Bottom line ..The label's instructions should be crystal clear.

I read technical documents for a living and I am good at it.

When I first received my tractor I read the regen section in the manual and was a little confused but had no problem understanding what the inhibit button did and what the RPM lamp meant.

When the first regen actually occured i had no problem understanding what the lights were telling me to do.

I am sure I could explain regen to my wife and she could read the manual a dozen times and would srill be totally baffled starting with "somethimg is wrong with the tractor".....

It’s easier than setting clock on a VHS player IMO.

Read the manual, if not clear read it again. Get the machine up to temperature, keep the rpm’s up and use the machine. If it starts to look like a disco on the dash, raise the rpm’s and keep working. Otherwise read on in the manual about stage 2 and 3 and 4.

Not sure about your model but some decals are simply incorrect.

Check with parts depart to see if revised decals have been issued.

FWIW, some Operator's Manuals are also incorrect.

Here are the regen stickers from my MX and M. The MX sticker although having a different TC650 number appears to be identical to the sticker on the L3302 posted by @whatsupdoc .

Personally, I think this is a very clever label that condenses a lot of information into a small area. It's a cheat sheet to serve as a reminder, but owners still need to read through the regen section in the manual which helps when interpreting the label. There isn't an unlimited amount of space for stickers on or in these tractors so I think Kubota did a good job with this.

So the tractor knows if it's being run indoors or outdoors, or in an area where there's a fire hazard? You think it's safe for the computer to increase rpm without knowing what the operator is doing with the tractor?

The label is clear once you take the time to understand it. The problem is that many don't read the owner's manual, and don't read the label, and then find themselves trying to read the label and think about the regen process when lights are flashing on the dash. This is not a good approach.

Look at what every Kubota manual includes on the second or third page.

"To obtain the best use of your tractor, please read this manual carefully"
