I think your sympathy meter is fine.I read the story on this, and for some reason, my sympathy meter has remained pegged at ZERO. Never even flickered once.
Obviously, it needs maintenance.

Charles Darwin had a really good theory on this sort of behaviour.
What behavior do you think this man was doing? From what I saw the man that was attacked was standing around 100 yards away from the bison taking pictures. The rules say to stay only 25 yards away, which seems awfully close to me. He actually was trying to avoid any contact when he saw the bison starting to focus in his direction. I think he actually tried to protect a member of his family by then drawing more attention to himself (but that is just an assumption since he goes out of camera for a while). If it were up to me, there would be a sudden flurry of prosecutions for this kind of behavior, and it would be well-publicized.
And I mean some jail time, not just some wimpy slap on the wrist.
Okay, back to your regularly scheduled chuckle-fest.![]()
What am I missing? All I saw was a pic of the Indians rating him very highly. Is there a video somewhere? I would like to see the facts, just the facts. What behavior do you think this man was doing? Now the guy in a truck that stopped and was supposedly honking his horn (which changed the bison’s behavior immediately) is another matter. Especially since there were some people out of vehicles and not close to protective enclosures.

Not when a bison can run at 30 to 35 MPH, that is only around 7 seconds. And the man had already walked into the trees so probably had no idea the bison was moving towards him.Secondly, it's pretty hard to get tossed by a bison from 100 yards away. No, the entitled idiot was up close and personal, where he had no business being.
Again, what action did this person do that irritates you enough to make this statement: “If it were up to me, there would be a sudden flurry of prosecutions for this kind of behavior, and it would be well-publicized.”?
I don’t see any actions like you are stating in any of the videos that I have seen on this subject. But thank you greatly for pointing out my great ignorance and bless your little heart. You really should make at least a minimal effort to get the facts before you decide you disagree with other people who HAVE gotten the facts.
He was bothering the animal. He was NOT 100 yards away. He was right up on it. And he had his grandson with him, so he was combining setting a bad example for that boy, and putting that boy in serious danger. I'm just glad the bison picked the larger target instead of the boy.
He, like many other entitled idiots who visit Yellowstone, ignored the plainly posted rules and warnings and did what he pleased, and suffered some minor consequences. Self-important idiots like him endanger themselves, other people around them, and the animals every year in Yellowstone and other national parks. It's been going on for a long time. It's in the news pretty regularly. You really have no excuse for being so ignorant.
Firstly, I would agree that there are plenty of tourons in the national parks. It's in the news pretty regularly. You really have no excuse for being so ignorant.
