I just saw an ad on Facebook Marketplace selling firewood. 1/2 cord @125.00, full cord @275.00. That new math tends to confuse me.

Yes, and they would rather get 1/4 cord for the same price as 1/3 cord because they get more wood. Simple, 4 is larger than 3.

Amazon is famous for this. I have to check every time I buy something in qty there. The last time I ordered led workshop lights there the 4 pack was 25% more than buying 4 singles (same product, same page)

I have run across this too - order one piece at a time is cheaper than 2 packs or more.

Another tricky thing to watch for - you can get 5% off this item ..... and you order it, but then you wanted another - there is no 5%. IF someone else orders - they will get the 5%. AND if you order multi items, you only get 5% of the first one!
