"Customer States" YouTube channel .... urghhh!

I made the mistake of watching a "Customer States ...." compilation this morning. It's truly shocking what some people do, what some don't know, and how clueless so many are. There are some amusing issues presented, but so many are truly unbelievable. It must be a tough job working as a mechanic seeing how dumb many are, how disgusting they are, how little they care for their vehicles, or what they do out of ignorance and/or stupidity.

There are some gems in this compilation. For example, the customer who added 30 quarts of oil to his engine so that it was full to the top of the valve cover! Or the customer who added windshield washer fluid to his headlights!

Anyway, worth a watch if you like to shake your head in disbelief.

Yeah, so many are staggering. One scene shows a girl falling out of her SUV during a turn because the door latch was broken and she wasn't wearing a seat belt, and the SUV crashes into a building! Looks like someone tried to steel the rear differential on one work truck and had cut most of the way through both axle tubes and the driver reported feeling a clunking in the rear end. Some of them are truly shocking. I guess mechanics get to see this kind of crazy stuff all the time.

"just rolled in" channel had one that said :

"customer states there is a bright blue light on in the center of the dash (speedometer)"








And I wonder why I get blinded all the time ! (I wonder no more)

Frightening. These people can vote! (We can only hope they don't!)

Of course, I don't have room to talk. My daughter trashed an engine because she never checked her oil. Bone dry, seized up. 5 grand, and she's paying us back.

Yes, I taught her, but..... Horses and water. Good object lesson for her siblings, and yes, we DID make sure they knew about it! None of this, "Let's just keep this between us, okay, Dad?". Nope. We're shining a big spotlight on this bonehead move, and hoping they learn from your laziness.

She's checking it weekly now.


(I love the bell at 2:02, and the fact that the customer had to take that to a shop to figure it out!)

One customer complained of the back up camera being defective due a to white line across the bottom of the screen. The mechanic made the astute observation "that's your bumper!"

Perhaps worse was the person who couldn't understand why their car wasn't changing color when they changed the color of the car icon in the settings menu for the navigation system. Hard to believe that one!

But the safety related issues were the worst. Yikes!

I think it's safe to say that all of the owner modifications have "Dunning-Kruger Effect" written all over them.

So do a lot of others, but some of them can be attributed to simple ignorance.

I got a guy with some Heavy Duty zip ties to the drive shaft and an apple down the tail pipe.

Had one of those annoying stereos always blaring. The apple "popping" out of his tail pipe got his attention. Then he turned down the stereo to hear those zip ties slapping.

Instead of stopping and looking he pulled into a speedy lube place.

Speedy lube tech took the truck into the shop, ran it up the lift, and then about passed out he was laughing so hard. Tech immediately got everybody in the lobby to go out and look at the truck on the lift

Guy learned a valuable lesson about pranking someone with grease under the door handle.

Somebody is always a bigger A--hole

Fortunately…these exmples are EXTREMELY rare…. but they are humorous as hell…and the only reason they have validity.

A buddy of mine had a similar story to the video shortly after becoming a Ford technician.

He had an old man come into the shop complaining of a thumping noise everytime he went over the small curb and up the hill into his driveway.

Buddy gave the guy a ride home while test driving the car. Pulled into the driveway and heard the "Thump" coming from the trunk area.

He walked back with the customers keys and popped the trunk. He found a loose bowling ball rolling around back there.
