Experienced yes, expert no.Oh good, now I can ask an expert about snowplowing with the bucket!
Can you quickly talk about how you managed the bucket, what problems you saw etc,?? How about long passes vs shorter passes?
Most typical snow plows have some mechanism to keep from hitting the actual ground / gravel / concrete etc. Some are skid-like, some are round mushroom shape. I'm thinking of adding 1.5" thick (2x4 pressure treated) skids in the bucket holes after the snow flies. What surface were you on? I'm on gravel/dirt.
Thanks Again..
I plowed gravel initially and now its a mix.
My driveway is steep so I try to get it completely bare. I would never consider skid shoes of any type.
Conditions dictate straregy but generally to start its bucket tipped slightly down and just above the surface. Then just push as much c as possible as far as possible. That's generally not very far if the snow is more than a few inches deep. Once you get more than 6" deep and especially if its wet its more like dig and dump than plow.
Once its mostly "plowed" I go back with a combination of float and down pressure to scrape it ckean.
For snows in the 6" and under range or for final cleanup an angled back blade in forward ot reverse is much more effective than the bucket.
The new L3901 has made it a lot faster. The little B7200DT is too short and light for any real accumulation. The last 3 footer we got took a week to dig out (1/4 mile) and I was stuck multiple times....
