If you really want red fuel why not contact the closest heating fuel oil company. That's all I have ever burned in my tractors / generator

As I said in a previous post, the delivery fee for under 50 gallons makes it a wash. Actually costs more. I don't care what color it is. Just don't want to pay taxes on it. Apparently, around here, they make it purposely difficult.
The funny thing is that now that I have to fill out their silly little paper, I'm including every ounce of gasoline that I use off road. Just like the old days!
I bought a 165-gallon Roth plastic-lined oil tank a little over a year ago. I procrastinated putting it into the garage, and once I did, I procrastinated again about filling it. Last fall the oil prices were around $2.00 - $2.50 a gallon depending on where you called for delivery. Now, I buy 5 gallons at a time until the oil prices come down.
Here in Florida, $.587 in federal, state and county fuel (road)taxes are added to clear diesel per gallon, no sales tax is added.
Dyed has no road tax, however you are charged sales tax, state and county, on dyed if you are not a qualified "farm".
I am told we are charged $.005 per gallon for the red dye.
Tanker fills from the same tank at the port, there is dye injected while filling the tanker.

I believe when the same tanker carries both taxed and untaxed fuel the dye is added when the tanker unloads the untaxed fuel into the retailers storage tank.

Nope, not at our facility, you can see the fill ball on the bottom load valves. When driver comes from the port, all the sight glasses are clear, when the flow starts you see it turn red as it goes into storage. the last few gallons from the loading head to the truck are clear to flush out the dye for the next truck. You load both clear and dyed from the same bottom load pipe.
Hope that makes sense, tanker trucks fill from the bottom up, fuel is pumped into load valve and it is emptied from the same load valve.

How do they keep that persistent dye from influencing the taxed diesel? Just a small amount of red dye will color a lot of clear fuel.
My 2020 Bulk Fuel Tank Repair two yrs ago has held up well. No leaks yet. The 200 gallon tank was empty in a yrs time. Been working on the 300 gallon tank and hoping it will get us through the season and into next year. The 2020 fill was at $1.34 per gallon for the off road diesel. Have a feeling I'll be operating out of 5 to 50 gallon drums when this 300 gal. tank is empty. That's going to BITE!!
Gravity dump from tanker, and the delivery guys flush if they need to switch between compartments in delivery trucks.
