It also carries an API SN rating, so good for most gasoline engines needing this weight as well

Late to the thread but shows $15.98 here now.

Just changed the oil in my backhoe and JD this week. Backhoe takes 5 gallons and the JD is 4-1/2 qts.

I just use Delvac 1300 15W40 synthetic blend. $14.98 per gallon at Walmart and Tractor Supply will price match.

A question about oil: WSM for the BX23D says oil classification CD, CE, or CF. The Delco oil says it is CK-4 which, as I understand it, is a newer version for newer engines. I'd like to get some of this Delco oil but since this engine is older, would it be better to stick with the CD, CE, CF classifications?

Most oil classifications become outdated with time, and usually, the new classification is backward compatible. I asked the same question and the Wolfman said that it was ok for my BX23S, so I guess that it would be OK for your BX23D.

Thank you, DustyRusty. That's exactly what I needed to know.

I bought some from a store that showed $12.98. When it cleared “pending“ on my cc it averaged out to the $8.98 ea price.
