Thanks for the info, that price I'm picking up a bunch tomorrowMy guess is dumping inventory.
Store closings
Thank you, DustyRusty. That's exactly what I needed to know. Most oil classifications become outdated with time, and usually, the new classification is backward compatible. I asked the same question and the Wolfman said that it was ok for my BX23S, so I guess that it would be OK for your BX23D.
I bought some from a store that showed $12.98. When it cleared “pending“ on my cc it averaged out to the $8.98 ea price.Late to the thread but shows $15.98 here now.
Just changed the oil in my backhoe and JD this week. Backhoe takes 5 gallons and the JD is 4-1/2 qts.
I just use Delvac 1300 15W40 synthetic blend. $14.98 per gallon at Walmart and Tractor Supply will price match.
When I picked up the 2 gallons at the good price, the manager asked if I wanted more. They had 4 additional gallons now in stock. It appears they may be changing the container. The same oil (if I read the label right) is now in a blue jug. This one is silver. I will not let my tractor see the color of the jug, just in case.My local store manager told me that there were over 50 gallons in the territory, and I could have as much as I wanted. They most likely have a huge inventory in their warehouses. They probably bought a railroad carload and a very inexpensive price. Now the bill might be coming due, so sell it for a small profit over what was paid,
I had asked why such a discount and the guy told me it’s because they were switching from jugs to the cardboard box with the bag in it. Who knows. When I picked up the 2 gallons at the good price, the manager asked if I wanted more. They had 4 additional gallons now in stock. It appears they may be changing the container. Sorry to hear of these issues for you. The sad part is that there is no excuse for this but it will never be corrected by this chain. Contacting the "home office" to complain would probably not result in the result that you should get but maybe it would help to be able to voice a complaint. Your time, effort and expense means nothing. This whole thing seems to have been random from the beginning...and it doesn't make sense.Okay don't trust Advance online for anything. I placed an order for 6 gallons to be picked up at one of the independent Carquest locations. Get a email this morning saying it was ready for pickup. Get to the counter and the guy looks at the order number and marks it as picked up. Then he doesn't have any of the oil. Without any further conversation he refunds the order and hands me both receipts.
Apparently the Carquest guys were just blowing through the computer prompts without actually looking for the product. You would think they would pull the product BEFORE they have the system send out an email to pick up. And why would he tell the system the order was picked up before picking the order?
I go a few miles down the road to a company owned Advance store and they show 3 in stock but have none. He looks on his system and practically every store just shows 2 or 3. Their prices showed $15.95.
I called another independent Carquest that said they had 6 in stock at $39.95 per gallon. They said they would not meet the Advance sale price even if I bought it online for pickup at their store.
Pretty big waste of time for me along with a 30 mile trip to pickup.
I was mostly venting to alert anyone interested to make sure and call to verify stock. The price changes every time I open the link and it was only showing the $8.95 price for a day here.Sorry to hear of these issues for you. I tried that. The website didn't seem to allow that for me.In hindsight I might could have selected ship to home and got the product sent to me.
