Hi Folks,

Any ideas floating around for a DIY chainsaw scabbard?

I know SawHaul will sell me a nice one for $129 +tax. I see Koplin has one which looks less than ideal for $65.

There must be someone who has solved this before me. A search didn't come up with much.

Here’s how I did mine, it attaches by what I’ll call “pinch plates” I couldn’t bring myself to weld on my new tractor. All from scrap I had on hand.

This one was pretty simple using the original scabbard.

[/QUOTafter all I spent on the tractor having something that looked decent and worked well had importance. The Sawhaul is extremely well made, super easy to install, works very well, and doesn’t look like left over material. If you go to their site you can do 4 two week installments at zero interest to break up the cost. Several YouTube sites

have codes for 5% off. Military also get a discount. In the end it was a simple choice for me.

Looking at ebay, there seems to be a lot of cheap scabbords. You do have to attach them. Seems to me that the commercial solutions are very expensive for what you are getting. I don’t personally have a need for one.

This is what I came up with. It just slides down and friction holds it down on loader arm. I have never had it come off due to bouncing up and down while driving in the woods. Also never hit the bar and chain with my leg getting on and off tractor. A simple DIY mod.

Alternatively, you can get this saw holder for approx $2,400. It comes with a free stump grinder...;)

My cargo box on the back started as a saw holder. I am looking for a place to mount a scabbard to hold a 30-30.

I'm working in a brushy area, we have bears, bobcats and mountain lions in the area.
I was just razzing you. I carry a side arm when out in the woods myself.

Figured as such, I don't hunt, did a long time ago. These days we have bow hunters come in, we have Deer Crop Damage Permits for our properties.10 pointers are not uncommon in CT.
